She was 45. Richardson’s family, in a statement, asked “for privacy during this very difficult time.” source

Culture: Proof Bill O’Reilly is a social deviant: His audio book

  • “Off With Those Pants!” Bill O’Reilly, when he’s not criticizing the left and getting mocked by them, apparently is an author. To his peril, he released a book of fiction, “Those Who Trespass,” in 1998, which was later put out as an audiobook in 2001. And, oh boy, some of the language is nice and colorful. The Village Voice has done us all a, uh, favor, and gathered some key audio clips. *shudder* source

Culture: This just makes our head hurt. The SciFi Channel goes “SyFy”

  • We love being sci-fi, and we’re still embracing that. But we’re more than just space and aliens and the future – the three things most people think of when they think of ‘sci fi.’
  • Dave Howe • President of the SciFi Channel, on its name change to SyFy – which is destined to annoy the crap out of a bunch of BSG and SG-1 fans. We’re not even SciFi fans and we’re annoyed by it. And it takes a lot to annoy us, as you might have been able to tell by the nature of our blog. • source

Culture: A hockey game broke out at an “America’s Next Top Model” tryout

  • It was beauty and bedlam. Officers don’t know what caused it, but chaos ensued at a tryout for “Top Model,” the Tyra Banks-helmed reality show, in New York yesterday. Six people were injured. Two sought medical treatment. Three others were arrested. For the love of God, someone involved with the show better have gotten that on tape, because that sounds like perfect reality show fodder. source

  • A warrant is out for her arrest. The star, who went from critically-acclaimed actress to laughingstock in less than a year, has a warrant out for her arrest stemming from a 2007 DUI charge. She’s currently on probation for her second DUI conviction. She’s only like 22, by the way. Girl’s been busy. source

Culture, Music: The cake is a lie: Rihanna/Chris Brown duet not real

  • It was an old recording used for reference vocals. Apparently, word on the street was that the tumultuous relationship between the two was on the mend (which is apparently true still) and the reunion would be cemented by a new recording. Their label reps deny this and say the song in question was written for someone else and the couple hasn’t recorded together since the incident. So much for good rumors, kids. source

Culture: The Woz is suffering for his “Dancing With the Stars” art

  • Karina wanted me to drive in cars and not use the Segway. After first opposing this, I came around. I have seen a lot of things to know that I can trust her. I’m glad that I have largely switched to car travel now.
  • Steve Wozniak • On taking a break from using a Segway to travel around everywhere after he fractured his stupid foot while dancing. Oh, and in case you want to vote for his terrible dancing abilities, check out his official Facebook group. • source

Culture: This is what happens when you create a show about polygamy

  • Obviously, it was not our intention to do anything disrespectful to the church, but to those who may be offended, we offer our sincere apology.
  • HBO • In a statement about their show “Big Love” and its portrayal of an endowment ceremony within a Mormon temple. Well, mayhaps, but you’re still airing the episode, aren’t you? So, even with the apology, you’re still getting boycotted. Good job! • source
