Offbeat: “You and Your Johnson”: A video about a guy and his boat

  • Wonder if anyone creating this video would’ve imagined how unintentionally funny it would be 40 years down the line. At one point, in fact, it says “You, your kids and your Johnson.” Which nowadays would get you arrested.

Tech: TechCrunch gets on on the hilarious Woot.com AP baiting mess

  • Meanwhile, AP staffers across the Gulf region and in Washington continue to provide comprehensive coverage of the oil spill.
  • AP Director of Media Relations Paul Colford • Using the oil spill as a scapegoat for the whole faux-fight with Woot.com and TechCrunch. TechCrunch, thank God, has a little bit of fun with the whole thing, posting a whole AP story on their site just to be stupid and childish. To which, we say, why the heck not! It’s AP who needs to change, not TechCrunch. One of the best TechCrunch posts in months. source

Culture: Lindsay Lohan sentenced to jail, but who’s getting punished?

This just in: Jail has been sentenced to 90 days of Lindsay Lohan.Tue Jul 06 23:53:33 via Twitter for iPhone

  • The tall, lanky guy from “Avatar” gets it right. This is not a punishment for Lindsay Lohan. She’s so trashed that she won’t even notice what’s going on. The prison population on the other hand? They get screwed because they have to deal with Lohan for 90 days. Who wins? Twitter users sick of listening to Justin Bieber’s screed. source

  • reaction They decided to protest the conditions … by wearing jeans and sandals to work. source
  • » Our thoughts: If they really want to punish them, they should wear socks with the sandals. Though that might be a little cruel and unusual.

Culture: Yo, New York Post, tell us how you really feel about soccer

  • A couple of weeks ago, we debated on a message board with a couple of English soccer fans what the New York Post’s cover about its tie to England really meant. We thought it was brilliant commentary of the fair-weather nature of American soccer fans. This panel, which ran in today’s paper, basically confirms it. The New York Post is making fun of Americans’ anemic love of soccer.

Tech: Blendtec ups the “Will it Blend” production values for the iPhone 4

  • The phone took a lot longer to blend this time. Sensing an opportunity to jump on the Gizmodo drama, Blendtec’s popular “Will it Blend” series added a little bit of a plot to its iPhone blending fun. One thing that’s clear from the clip – the iPhone screen is much tougher than the last few have been, because it actually holds up for a few seconds before turning into mush. Also, the “Blend My Phone” contest is freaking brilliant.
