The U.K.’s trying to dispel bomber-for-oil rumors. Libya warned the United Kingdom that there would be “catastrophic effects” to the relationship between the two countries if the Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi were allowed to die in prison, dozens of pages of documents released by the U.K. say. From the sounds of things, Libya twisted Scotland’s arm really hard, and to grease the skids further, Britain and Libya have had warm relations of late. All of which likely helped along his release. source

Afghan regional governor Delaga Bariz • Regarding claims of widespread vote-tampering across the country. According to Bariz and others, Hamid Karzai had some of his right-hand men come into the Shorabak region (which Abdullah Abdullah was destined to win), close the 45 local polling places, bring the ballot boxes to the election headquarters and stuff them with thousands of ballots favoring Karzai. Pretty serious allegations. • source
Word on the street is that Will Arnett, not Michael Cera, is holding up the development of the “Arrested Development” movie, thanks to a new show he’s making with creator Mitch Hurwitz (that hopefully will be better than “Sit Down, Shut Up”). They need to hurry up. If they don’t, Michael Cera’s gonna be pushing 30 by the time it happens. (The video above, featuring fellow funnyman Will Ferrell? Choice.)
