World: Iran to the rest of the world: Screw you guys, you suck.

  • Iran has officially moved from “double dare” to “triple dog dare.” With the class of a unlikeable bully on the playground, Iran announced today that they planned to open up 10 new enrichment plants. Iran was responding to a demand by the UN that they stop enriching at Fordow, the site that was only disclosed recently. FYI: Iran responds, guns blazing, both middle fingers in the air. source

World: We’re not thankful for Iran swiping a Nobel Peace Prize from its winner

Shirin Ebadi won the award in 2003. The Norwegian foreign ministry says it’s “the first time a Nobel Peace Prize has been confiscated by national authorities.” Lame. source

Ehsan Fattahian was hanged on Nov. 11th for belonging to an armed Kurdish group. Sentenced 10 years initially, they then added the charge of being an “enemy of God.” source

  • For two decades, the Alavi Foundation’s affairs have been directed by various Iranian officials, including Iranian ambassadors to the United Nations, in violation of a series of American laws.
  • U.S. attorney Preet Bharara • On the ownership of mosques, skyscrapers and other buildings by the Alavi Foundation. The U.S. siezed these buildings, claiming they were a front for the Iranian government. The tenets and occupants of the properties are safe, and they’re not getting kicked out; it’s the owner who is screwed. This ought to make that whole nuclear deal easier to pull off. • source

World: Iran’s Ahmadinejad: We really want to cooperate on nukes. Really!

  • Today, Iran’s nuclear conditions are stabilized and we’ve entered the phase of nuclear interaction and cooperation, and today an important issue is international nuclear cooperation in construction of nuclear power plants, reactors and even Iran’s contribution to a world fuel bank.

  • Avoiding delivery of S300 defense system to Iran, if that is Russia’s official stance, would be a new chapter in breaking promises by the Russians.
  • Iranian parliament member Alaeddin Boroujerdi • On the country’s desire to get promised high-grade missiles from Russia. Boroujerdi is the leader of parliament’s foreign policy and national security committee. Regarding the missiles, which can shoot down cruise missiles and aircraft, Iran wants them mostly to take on Israel if there’s ever an attack.
