  • 1.3M the rating “The Daily Show” earned among the key 18-49 demo last month
  • 1.2M the rating “The Tonight Show” and “The Late Show” earned, meaning Jon Stewart beat them

Culture: The Daily Show’s three most popular episodes Obama-related

  • 3.58M the number of people who watched Obama (the candidate) on The Daily Show back in 2008
  • 2.92M the number of people who watched his wife Michelle on the show a few weeks later
  • 2.84M the number of people who watched Obama (the president) on the show last night source
  • » And we must point out, kids: Jon Stewart did a hilarious intro before he introduced Obama last night. But the conversation went on so long that it never aired. Fortunately, Comedy Central was able to introduce us to the joy that is “Keeping the President Waiting.”

Politics: Chile miner rescue: Jon Stewart proves why cable news sucks

  • Dear Jon Stewart: Thank you for proving our point that this whole story has basically been kibble for cable news channels.

Politics: Max Headroom: Godwin’s Law broken again and again

  • Glenn Beck: Nazi-obsessed The fact of the matter is, there are dozens of clips that feature the Fox News talker bringing up Nazi Germany. We’re going to use this one because he cries in the clip. If this were an isolated incident that’d be one thing, but he regularly does this song and dance.

  • Lewis Black: Stop it, Glen With this bevy of ammo, “The Daily Show’s” most gleefully annoyed commentator went on the attack, noting how Beck is the guy who regularly brings up Nazis. Inspired even for a “Daily Show” rant, Black makes a totally convincing argument in his spiel.

  • Newt: Full steam ahead Just days after Black’s deafening rant, Newt Gingrich compared the Obama administration to Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia (something he says in his new book). You’d think Black’s rant would perhaps quiet the Nazi comparison racket. Nope. Not so much.

Politics: RNC staffer: The buck stops at Michael Steele’s desk

  • This is a really bad distraction at a time when we have the Obama administration on the ropes and we are making great gains out. Among the rank and file, we now have attention diverted to this fiscal irregularity and this controversy.
  • RNC platform committee vice chairman Ken Blackwell • Regarding the controversy swirling around the Republican National Committee. Blackwell, who ran for Michael Steele’s job last year, says that Steele knows “the buck stops at his desk,” and needs to make sure that heads will roll. In other news, Jon Stewart gave The Daily Caller, which broke the scandal, a shout-out last night, with this bon mot: “The Web site Daily Caller, best known for being mentioned just now …” Stewart may not be aware that his former arch-nemesis, Tucker Carlson, runs the site, and is actually doing him proud. source

Politics: “Conservative Libertarian: Two great tastes that taste great together”

  • “What if you drew arrows from here to theocracy?” Oh man, Jon Stewart was in fine form last night, pulling out that Glenn Beck impression of his and making it even better than it was before. Beck is still crazy but occasionally says sensical things these days. This clip is 13 minutes, but it’s the best 13 minutes you’ll spend all day. source

Culture: ChatRoulette officially over now that The Daily Show has covered it

  • That “Mexican food” analogy is painfully true. The Daily Show covered the topic du jour of the light media set – Chatroulette. He seems to agree with us on its faddish nature, except while noting the high level of nudity. Then, Stewart takes a spin through the site, which he jokes is loaded with reporters, and finds some – including a hilarious self-parody by Keith Olbermann and a bunch of other famous faces (Katie Couric and Brian Williams – sweet!).

Politics: Jon Stewart deblusters the blustery language blogs use

  • Well, he took the wind out of our sails. Jon Stewart’s brilliant approach to the way that the blogosphere makes things seem crazier than they actually are is pretty brilliant. Moreso, even, than his multi-part steel-cage match between him and Bill O’Reilly earlier this week. (Both of them are so good at what they do that they pretty much cancel each other out.) We hope MSNBC host Rachel Maddow doesn’t eviscerate us for this post.

U.S.: Some car kinda sorta connected to Joe Biden crashed or something

This police car with Joe Biden’s motorcade crashed. The vice president was on his way to “The Daily Show” to chat up Jon Stewart. Clearly, this is a sign. source

Politics: Sean Hannity apologizes to The Daily Show?!?! Whoa.

  • It was an inadvertent mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. So Mr. Stewart, you were right. We apologize. But by the way, I wanna thank you and all your writers for watching.
  • Sean Hannity • Speaking of this video we posted last night, where Jon Stewart and the Daily Show essentially proved that Hannity ran old footage of a rally to seemingly make last week’s health care rally seem bigger. While Hannity claims that it was “inadvertent,” he apologized anyway. Don’t see this often, kids. Savor it. • source
