Alex Day, above, has an album coming out on Thursday on DFTBA Records, a label created by two YouTube-based musicians. (DFTBA, by the way, stands for “Don’t Forget To Be Awesome.”) These guys made a pitch about the label, and we admit, while we don’t get into the nuances of YouTube culture that brought the label to the forefront, this is a smart idea.source
For the stimulus plan, “Buy American” can mean Canada, too. The White House will reportedly exempt our neighbors up north from the stimulus provision which favors buying American-made products. It had become a sore spot in Canuck-American trade relations, eh? source
It’s like the commercial, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. What happens in hypnotism stays in hypnotism.
Washington Wizards star Mike Miller • Describing the bizarre sight of a hypnotist at their training camp. New coach Flip Saunders brought in John-Ivan Palmer, described as “the World’s Fastest and Funniest Hypnotist,” for the team’s training camp. He’s apparently worked with Saunders before. Remember that faked “60 Minutes” piece? Dan Rather does. Years after the blogosphere proved that his Bush National Guard information was suspect (a great story for typophiles, by the way), he’s been fighting a $70 million lawsuit ever since. An appeals court threw it out, saying that they could find no evidence that the network screwed up his future job prospects or reneged on his contract. All this stuff happened so long ago, we forgot Bush was president! source

Defense Attorney J. Michael Dowling • On his client, Najibullah Zazi, who has been charged with plotting a terrorist attack in New York City. He’s being held without bail. Although it’s obvious that Dowling would say this about his client, he argues that there’s not a lot meat to the bones of the charges. “I don’t know the names of anybody else that allegedly conspired with Mr. Zazi,” Dowling said. “Those names have not been produced.” • source
