Culture: Tiger Woods finally breaks down, admits to affairs

  • I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves.
  • Tiger Woods • Admitting to transgressions and affairs with other women. He should’ve said something on Saturday. Now it’s just a mess and he can’t do anything to fix it. We feel bad for him, but … dude, your PR sucks as much as your golf game rules. source

Culture: A PR person speculates on why Tiger shouldn’t let people speculate

  • There’s only two things worse than whatever really happened outside Tiger Woods’ house: speculation and the appearance of a cover up.
  • David and Sam PR founder and creative director David Eichler • Describing why Woods’ desire to keep the car crash story under wraps is doing him significantly more harm than good. “When you make a billion dollars by being a celebrity you have no privacy,” he continues. “No matter how egregious the truth is, Tiger’s camp would be well served to learn from history and not try to run, hide or pretend they don’t owe the public the truth.” source

Culture: Dear Tiger Woods: Come clean. Let us know what’s up.

  • Holding off is just making it more obvious that something happened. Tiger – we don’t admit to knowing what happened between you and your wife. We pulled open that copy of National Enquirer just to see what it said, but have no proof of anything. All we know is that you and your wife look like you’re hiding something by not talking to the press OR – more notably – the police. You get the benefit of the doubt, man, but stop hiding. OK? source

Culture: Tiger’s model wife knows how to use a golf club, too

  • She smashed open a window with a golf club to get him out of his SUV. After Tiger crashed his car last night, Elin Nordegren pulled him out of the car herself. He was laying in the street when police found him. Best. Story. Detail. Ever. source

Politics: Is the Tiger Woods story an example of Twitter’s real-time superiority?

  • That apparently took 45 minutes to get up. They could have called anyone on Twitter 30 minutes ago to get those details from what officials were saying based on what they had already read thanks to Twitter and Google.
  • TechCrunch columnist MG Siegler • Commenting on the breaking nature of the Tiger Woods crash. @BreakingNews had it 45 minutes before any mainstream news source. When CNN had it, they had zero information. This is because they needed to source it, whereas @BreakingNews didn’t. Another interesting note from the story – BNO News, which currently runs @BreakingNews, will let MSNBC run the feed starting next month. Expect it to start sucking at that point. source
