Offbeat: Protip: Google’s walking directions could get you hit by a car

  • Park City, Utah resident Lauren Rosenberg is an idiot. Rosenberg was trying to walk from one side of town to the other and ended up on a highway without a sidewalk. She kept following Google’s instructions on her BlackBerry and (surprise) got hit by a car. Now she’s suing for $100,000. OK, we understand that Google’s walking directions may perhaps be a little off sometimes, but when does common sense step in? (Groan.) source

U.S.: Stupid parent suspended for letting stupid kid direct air traffic

  • The sound of a pending pink slip “World’s Greatest Dad” may have seemed like the proper title for the father of this kid who directed traffic at JFK Airport one day, but instead it’s “World’s Biggest Idiot.” An airport supervisor and an air traffic controller (i.e. the boss and his idiot worker) were suspended as a result of this incident, which managed to take away from the luster of Sully’s pending retirement. Miracle on the Hudson? More like miracle nobody died thanks to this kid. source

Politics: John Edwards used a lot of tricks not to get caught, still did

  • When rumors of the affair started circulating, she continued to risk getting spotted in hotel lobbies and grocery stores. ‘I think she wanted to get caught,’ Young writes.
  • Slate writer Christopher Beam • Regarding the John Edwards/Rielle Hunter affair, which former Edwards associate Andrew Young wrote about in great detail. Young was on the losing side of most of the romantic facilitation, having to do pretty much everything possible to cover it up from Edwards’ wife Elizabeth, who was reading financial and phone records with a fine-toothed comb. It’s a nice guide about how not to get caught when having an affair. Final tip: Make sure you wear a condom. Edwards didn’t. source

Culture: Tiger Woods finally breaks down, admits to affairs

  • I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves.
  • Tiger Woods • Admitting to transgressions and affairs with other women. He should’ve said something on Saturday. Now it’s just a mess and he can’t do anything to fix it. We feel bad for him, but … dude, your PR sucks as much as your golf game rules. source

Culture: Carrie Prejean doesn’t understand why people go on Larry King

  • Carrie Prejean is officially the stupidest, most annoying human being on the planet – something she clawed away from Richard Heene WITHOUT EVEN TRYING! She treats Larry King like he’s some two-bit schmuck in this clip. You know, Carrie, the reason why people go on Larry King is because he’s the most sympathetic interviewer ever. And you need a lot of sympathy right now. Way to ruin it by proving yourself to be a something-or-other.SOURCE
