Biz: Time Warner and News Corp. come to a deal, freaking finally

  • We’re happy to have reached
a reasonable deal with no disruption in programming for our customers.
  • Time Warner Cable CEO Glenn Britt • Regarding the deal made between his company and News Corp. over content. News Corp. wanted a dollar per subscriber for its content each month; Time Warner wanted to pay them closer to twenty cents. They found a happy medium or something. Customers still lose because it means higher cable prices either way. source

Culture: The Dramatic Chipmunk is much deadlier than he looks

  • Sometimes, it simply takes a new approach to make a meme completely fresh again. Dramatic Chipmunk has been around for a few years, and while it’s completely awesome, it’s also old. This parody clip takes the chipmunk (really a prairie dog) and has it attack the Japanese video crew shooting it, horror-movie-style. This is one of the best parody clips we’ve seen in ages, and we highly recommend you watch.

Politics: Janet Napolitano resignation calls are getting louder, bipartisan

  • We should have someone who doesn’t need to go in there and learn about terrorism, learn about security. How close were these 300 people on this plane from losing their lives because homeland security broke down? Boy, it was really close.
  • New Jersey State Senate President (and former governor) Richard Codey • On his feeling regarding Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Codey feels that the former Arizona governor isn’t a good fit for the post, in that she doesn’t have a background in security. Many Republicans feel the same way (and have been criticizing her for months). Now, we don’t think it’s gotten this bad yet, but the building bipartisan support should give the Obama administration pause. source
