U.S., World: The Danish cartoonist attacker almost attacked Hillary Clinton

  • She was reportedly the target of a foiled bus attack in Kenya. The suspect, who we can’t name due to Danish law, reportedly tried to attack the former Secretary of State during her 11-day tour of the country in September. He was sent back to Denmark due to lack of evidence. Now we can probably agree that something is up with this dude who was arrested. source

Politics: Max Headroom: Spinning the NYC-based 9/11 terror trial

  • A spirited defense Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has her work cut out for her in defending having the 9/11 terror trial in NYC. For the most part, her points make sense, even if they annoy Rudy Giuliani.

  • Gitmo like Disneyland? Michigan Rep. Pete Hoekstra perhaps misspoke when he referred to Guantanamo Bay as “a great place.” Hear that? It’s an instant soundbite for his Democratic challenger in 2010!

U.S., World: Hillary in Congo: BILL ISN’T SECRETARY! I AM! HULK SMASH!

  • Wow. Did you see the way Hillary Clinton turned green and her muscles got really big when she was asked that question? She’s a regular Bruce Banner. But that said, we can understand her anger. Clinton went to Congo to bring a stop to rape in the country. In other words, she was fighting a women’s rights issue and had sexism thrown right in her face. Good job, random student!source

Politics: Hillary Clinton’s trump card: Bill Clinton as problem-solver?

  • Now that Bill has successfully completed his North Korea mission, he is sure to play an increasingly prominent role in foreign affairs. The trick for Hillary will be to use him to solidify rather than undermine her position as Secretary of State.
  • Huffington Post columnist Jacob Heilbrunn • Discussing how Bill Clinton’s role as dealbroker in North Korea could pay huge dividends for his wife, who actually has an official role in the Obama administration. Obama lucked out, Heilbrunn notes, saying “he knew that he was getting a twofer.” • source

Politics, U.S.: Hillary won’t be prez but hopes to see a female president soon

  • It will take the right woman who can make the case and win the votes and get elected. I am certainly hoping it will happen in my lifetime.
  • Secretary of State Hillary Clinton • Describing her hopes for a future female president. Clinton, who was smacked down by Barack Obama in last year’s Democratic primaries but spent eight years in the White House as First Lady, ruled herself out of the running for that role. She also didn’t give potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin her seal of approval, either. • source

  • The sitting pretty Bush’s Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, is just staying in that role for Obama. We imagine he’s kicking his legs up on his desk right now thinking of all the things he could be doing besides getting confirmed by the Senate. source
