Offbeat: This old dude takes compact cars to a whole new level

  • Tiny car, tiny garage, perfect fit. Hopefully this guy doesn’t have a bad day at some point and is just a couple inches off his thin margin of error. The most impressive part is how he manages to get inside his place after he opens the door.

U.S.: iPad: Some Tablet thing got everyone worked up today

  • On the scale of one to awesome, the iPad is pretty cool. The $499 starting price is reasonable, as is the data plan. The high-end of the scale is admittedly pretty high, but it is just a giant iPod Touch. Let’s not kid ourselves. But really, isn’t that what we wanted? source

Offbeat: In Japan, cats attack giant bears and win. Awesome!

  • We know that we post a lot of cat videos, but most of them don’t offer the awesome sight of a bear getting shamed by a freaking cat. See that? That’s bear shame. In Japanese. With Japanese captions which we won’t bother translating.

Tech: “It’s got Windows on it, I promise.” Steve Ballmer signs a Macbook Pro

  • Good idea, better reaction. Uncle Fester, a.k.a. Steve Ballmer, was caught off guard when a college student asked him to sign his Macbook Pro. Without losing a beat, the Microsoft Chairman and CEO signed it for him, with the phrase “Need a new one?” plastered on it in permanent marker. Awesome from all corners. source

Culture: “Jersey Shore” gets a Super Mario makeover, gets a lot better

  • As you might know, we have an instant affinity for all things Super Mario. And this is no exception, as Jersey Shore needed a little Mushroom Kingdom action going on – because they have so much in common, including the broad Italian stereotypes. We love the fact, in particular, that Donkey Kong and Bowser are hooking up. Amazing.
