Politics: Let’s hope John Edwards’ “special” tape doesn’t get online. Idiot.

  • There was one tape that was marked ‘special.’ It’s a sex tape of Rielle and John Edwards made just a couple of months before the Iowa caucuses.
  • Former John Edwards aide Andrew Young • Who covered up the presidential candidate’s affair, on what he happened to find in the house. Wait wait wait, John Edwards recorded a sex tape? And he’s a politician? What the hell is wrong with him? This guy was supposed to be president according to John Edwards. Young also reveals that Edwards tried to convince Rielle Hunter to get an abortion. Shocking. No wonder why he’s separated from Elizabeth. Who would want to keep a scumbag like this around anyway? source

Culture: Tim Tebow: Nearly aborted, now famous. We just saved you $2.5M

  • By offering one of the most coveted advertising spots of the year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will damage its reputation, alienate viewers, and discourage consumers from supporting its shows and advertisers.
  • A statement by the Women’s Media Center • Regarding a planned Focus on the Family Super Bowl commercial featuring former University of Florida (and future NFL) star Tim Tebow. The commercial notes that Tebow was nearly aborted for medical reasons (his mom, Pam, refused), and since he was born, ta-dah!, now he’s one of the biggest college football stars in history. The commercial, obviously expensive, has the potential of being seen by a huge audience. It’s already hugely controversial. source

U.S.: Oklahoma could start treating abortions like sex offenders

  • Because shaming people out of getting abortions is really the right way to go. A court case will be the deciding factor in creating a law in Oklahoma that will put information about abortions in an online database on a Web site. While names won’t be named, those who plan to get the abortions would have to fill out a lengthy questionnaire which asks them why they’re getting the abortions. Some fear that the questions will be detailed enough that they could identify the mothers. State Sen. Todd Lamb is the guy behind this overly invasive legislative crapfest. source

U.S.: Some crazy lady tried really hard to kill a rival’s baby

  • Forged prescription Kisha Jones of Brooklyn, in an attempt to end the pregnancy of Monique Hunter, who she believed was about to have her husband’s illegitimate baby, reportedly acquired a drug meant to induce labor by acquiring a doctor’s medical pad.
  • Tricked into taking Jones then allegedly pretended to be Hunter’s doctor’s office and called numerous times telling her that she had a prescription she needed to take. Hunter then took the prescription thinking it was hers, had severe abdominal pain, and went into labor.
  • Toxic bottle Despite all of that, the baby survived, but not without another wrinkle. A unidentified man the allegedly dropped off a bottle for the new baby filled with poison. Doctors caught the bottle and called police. “What do you call your act?” “The Aristocrats!” source

Politics: Abortion fail: Fox News pulls out dicey “low-income babies” card

  • That’s some hard-hitting questioning on abortion right there, Alisyn Camerota of Fox News. Some would argue that it’s racist or disrespectful to the poor. We’d argue that it just makes you an awful human being. Our favorite part of the clip is the obvious disbelief about the line of questioning by Kate Obenshain, her guest. source

Politics: Max Headroom: Abortion, George Will and enemy combatants

  • Debbie does Fox Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a pro-choice Democrat, made a pitch for abortion – and equality in health care for women – on Fox News. Fox News’ Chris Wallace asked if she’d get the Stupak amendment – the key to the House bill passing – overturned, and she said yes. That’s a lefty for ya.
  • No mincing words On ABC’s “This Week,” George Stephanopoulos asked whether Sarah Palin advanced her political career thanks to the hype around “Going Rogue.” George Will – a dusty old conservative, by the way – quipped that what Palin is doing is “not politics.” Damn, he let her have it.
  • Pressure pointWhen Sen. Lindsey Graham asked Attorney General Eric Holder about enemy combatants facing civilian trials through history, it was like a pin prick. CNN speculates Holder knew the answer, but knew it’d hurt politically – Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would remain in jail no matter the outcome.
