Politics: S.C. Republicans give Lindsey Graham crap ’cause he’s agreeable

  • I believe in the Constitution 100 percent – Mr. Graham does not. He voted for Sotomayor, that’s the first thing. She is a liberal, she is a racist, and you support her? Wrong, absolutely wrong.
  • Rock Hill, S.C. auto mechanic Terry Hutchinson • On his hatred for Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina senator who actually tries to compromise on key issues. His Senate counterpart, Jim DeMint, actively fights against this conciliatory approach. Graham, who was recently censured by the Charleston County Republican Party, is nearly as conservative as DeMint, according to the American Conservative Union. In other words, uninformed conservatives like Hutchinson need to stop listening to Fox News and talk radio and actually research who they’re vilifying so they actually know what they’re talking about. source

Politics: Here’s what one jerk says about the Swiss minaret ban referendum

  • Forced marriages and other things like cemeteries separating the pure and impure – we don’t have that in Switzerland, and we do not want to introduce it. Therefore, there’s no room for minarets in Switzerland.
  • Ulrich Schlueer • Co-president of the Initiative Committee to ban minarets in Switzerland. Nothing like the small of racism in the morning, or at the very least, a wedge issue to emphasize our differences in an ugly way. source

Politics: Is the Tiger Woods story an example of Twitter’s real-time superiority?

  • That apparently took 45 minutes to get up. They could have called anyone on Twitter 30 minutes ago to get those details from what officials were saying based on what they had already read thanks to Twitter and Google.
  • TechCrunch columnist MG Siegler • Commenting on the breaking nature of the Tiger Woods crash. @BreakingNews had it 45 minutes before any mainstream news source. When CNN had it, they had zero information. This is because they needed to source it, whereas @BreakingNews didn’t. Another interesting note from the story – BNO News, which currently runs @BreakingNews, will let MSNBC run the feed starting next month. Expect it to start sucking at that point. source

Politics: Sarah Palin puts a little too much trust in Canadian conservatives

  • Dear Sarah Palin: If you see a woman who vaguely looks like you shouting questions about Canadian health care, do yourself a favor and don’t answer. The woman, Mary Walsh of “Daily Show” to the North “This Hour has 22 Minutes,” was in character as ultraconservative Marg Delahunty, and she was trying to bait Palin into saying something really stupid. It took her a couple tries, but Walsh succeeded. source

Politics: Sean Hannity’s cold on how hot our planet is this year

  • You can also look it up, this is one of the coldest years in history, this past year.
  • Sean Hannity • Completely getting his facts wrong on how warm it is this year. Media Matters (which is admittedly a liberal site, BTW) points out that Hannity has repeatedly said that this is one of the coldest years on record – facts not backed up at all by the NOAA, NASA and Britain’s Met Office. Data from all three says that it’s one of the warmest years on record. We wonder what crow tastes like. source

  • How it compares to other political books:
  • 606,000 copies of Bill Clinton’s “My Life” sold in its first week

Politics: PETA’s latest ploy: An anti-factory-farming Thanksgiving ad

  • If PETA is trying to convince us that we shouldn’t eat turkeys, this video kinda sorta does it. But man, is it ever harsh. NBC said they’d be willing to air the ad in late-night time slots, but PETA wanted it to air during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where tons of families – clearly, the target audience – could see it. Not so much, guys. source
