World: An Afghan airstrike leads top German minister Franz Josef Jung to resign

  • He’s the third top official to resign this week. Jung and others were under pressure after a September attack in Afghanistan killed civilians. It came out in local newspaper Bild that Jung and others likely knew of the civilian casualties from the point it happened. Those who resigned all assumed responsibility for the attacks. source

World: We’re not thankful for Iran swiping a Nobel Peace Prize from its winner

Shirin Ebadi won the award in 2003. The Norwegian foreign ministry says it’s “the first time a Nobel Peace Prize has been confiscated by national authorities.” Lame. source

U.S.: Michaele and Tarek Salahi brought Bravo cameras to the state dinner

  • Michaele Salahi is under consideration as a cast member, as such Half Yard Productions were filming the Salahis on that day. Half Yard was only aware that per the Salahis they had been invited as guests.

Tech: We’re super thankful for this massive Internet-allowing machine

  • This may be one of the most beautiful machine we’ve ever seen. It’s massive, it’s ugly, but its creation allowed the Internet to flow freely. It’s a packet switcher – nowadays your tiny little Linksys router does way more than this, but God, it’s beautiful. Above, our boy Leonard Kleinrock gives us a tour of its guts. source
