Politics: John McCain: Obama is living Ricky Nelson’s “Garden Party”

  • I think the great danger now is a half-measure, sort of a – you know, try to please all ends of the political spectrum. And, again, I have great sympathy for the president, making the toughest decisions that presidents have to make, but I think he needs to use deliberate speed.
  • Sen. John McCain • Doing what he always does – sounding brilliant when the stakes are low for him. Regarding Afghanistan (but really relevant for every part of his presidency), he tells Obama that it’s alright now, as long as he learns his lesson well. You see, he can’t please everyone, so he’s got to please himself. And he needs to do it fast. So, why didn’t we elect this guy for president? Oh yeah, because he fell victim to the very indecisiveness and political gaming that’s muddling Obama’s presidency. McCain speaks from experience, Barack. • source

Politics: Max Headroom: Al Gore stutters, Keith Olbermann doesn’t

  • Inconvenient for Al Phelim McAleer, co-director of “Not Evil Just Wrong,” a right-leaning film refuting Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth,” happened to be at Gore’s first Q&A in four years, Gore stumbled through McAleer’s question. Then McAleer’s mic was cut. Hm.

  • Fox & the GOP in bed? White House Communications Director Anita Dunn made a harsh-tongued accusation against Fox News this morning, calling them the “communications arm of the Republican Party” and saying Obama treats talking to them like a debate.

  • It’s about … death Last week, Keith Olbermann devoted a show to the health care debate. He prefaced it by saying that the debate was “about … death.” And he goes on, and on, and on. And a lot of it is pretty good and substantial. (Watch the whole thing here.)

Politics: Who had the iconic line of the National Equality March? Lady Gaga

  • Obama, I know you are listening. Are you listening? We will continue to push you and your administration to bring your words of promise to a reality.
  • Lady Gaga • Speaking before a huge crowd of gay-rights supporters in Washington D.C. today. She didn’t have to put on her poker face, or tell the crowd, “Just Dance.” She made a passionate, smart push for gay rights at today’s march. We’re impressed. So impressed that we’ll avoid making the joke about her that we usually make when we post about her on the blog.  • source

U.S.: The National Equality March: A vivid display of activism in D.C.

  • This is their moment. You knew that this wouldn’t be any march on Washington when Obama openly big-upped the movement and said he would end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” last night. But for the thousands of people in D.C. today (seriously, we were nearby, the crowd was massive and meaningful in size), that was only a start. They want him to keep going. Will he?source
