cause After years of pressure which recently hit a head, Craigslist finally got rid of its monitored, for-pay “Adult Services” section. They put a “censored” bar in its place.
reactionWith “Adult Services” out of service, users just moved over to the loosely-monitored “Casual Encounters” section. Great job, watchdogs. source
» To emphasize: Craigslist had to take down a service which provided tracking and monitoring of all purchases because regulators were concerned about what was on the site. Now, those users are going to go to other places, such as Backpage.com, which DO NOT provide the kind of tracking and paperwork that Craigslist did. Why is Craigslist getting crap here? Simple: Because they’re an easy target. This kind of stuff is going to happen anyway. Deal with the root problem, authorities.
If Amber had done her homework, she would have known ambushing me with questions I am not qualified to answer, or even the right person to ask, would not get CNN’s viewers the accurate information they deserve.
Craigslist founder Craig Newmark • Regarding getting ambushed about his service by CNN reporter Amber Lyon for a report about sex trafficking, and then folding under pressure. Newmark’s silence in the report, which ran a month ago, was deafening, without any fair explanation why he might struggle answering these questions. Simple answer: Uh, he’s not the CEO and works a menial customer service job with his own service. This is intentional, because he’s a terrible manager. Good thing, as a writer, he does a very good job explaining himself and why Lyon’s attack was all wrong. Do your homework before you ambush. source
It is quite wrong that we were afraid of him. He is not violent and I do not feel threatened by him. The responsibility for what happened to me and the other girl lies with a man who had attitude problems with women.
One of Julian Assange’s anonymous accusers • Regarding the situation that led to the quickly-rescinded rape charges against the Wikileaks founder. The Guardian cites sources close to one of the women that claim the issue cropped up because Assange disagreed about condom use with the women, not because he was acting in a non-consensual manner. Gawker has named one of the women, but we won’t do the same here. That said, if that’s what happened (instead of a conspiracy, as Wikileaks has claimed), that’s pretty creepy. source
Fans of comeback stories will like this one. After nearly a year of often-mean-spirited gender second-guessing, Semenya will get back on the track.

It’s been a long time coming … The decision should soon bring to fruition our six-year effort to create a specific Web address for online adult entertainment, and comes on the heels of an independent review that declared that ICANN’s previous decision to deny dot-xxx was wrong.
ICM Registry Chairman Stuart Lawley • Cheering the decision to allow new .xxx domains specifically for porn sites. Wait … is that really what he said in that first line? That sounds like the kind of dirty joke that he’s probably been saving up for this moment. He also claimed to be “excited” by the move. Can we just call Stuart Lawley a double-entendre machine already? source
First question: Why were they even covering this particular topic on the local news in the first place? Second question: Is this funnier than “Keep ducking that chicken” or not? (Note: The above clip features kind of “adult” humor. Don’t show it to kids.)
We know that girl just barely got her head in there, but if we cut any lower we risked showing Roxxxy the Sex Robot sitting in an unladylike position. Sorry.
