Politics: Average day: Sarah Palin and Rahm Emanuel are fighting

  • RahmEmanuel= as shallow / narrowminded / political / irresponsible as they come,to falsely claim Barton’s BP comment is ‘GOP philosophy’ Rahm,u lie.
  • A tweet from @SarahPalinUSA • Criticizing Rahm Emanuel for making a big issue of the Joe Barton thang. The tweet references another Republican Joe – Joe Wilson – who famously shouted “You Lie” at Obama during a speech about health care last year. White House spokesman Bill Burton pointed out that other Republicans agreed with Barton (true) and continued, “We’re satisfied that we’re doing everything we can to take care of the folks in the Gulf region, and if she doesn’t want to own Congressman Barton’s comments, that doesn’t surprise me.” In other news, whatever Sarah Palin says becomes news. source

Culture: Could Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston get back together?

  • I believe that wherever possible, if the parents can cooperate and co-parent in a positive way, the child will benefit. Levi and I are turning a new page here as co-parents to this wonderful boy and putting aside the past because doing so is in Tripp’s best interest.
  • Bristol Palin • Talking on “Good Morning America” about working together with Levi Johnston on parenting. There are some claims the new leaf goes even further, to the point where the two are a couple again, but that would probably mean that Ricky Hollywood would have to avoid going back to Hollywood for the rest of his life. Which is a world we don’t want to live in. source

Politics: Sarah Palin misses key fact in Nikki Haley scandal criticism

  • The blogger she lumped in with the liberal media? Conservative. And on Haley’s payroll. Look, we’re pretty skeptical of the claims of Will Folks due to the apparent traffic-courting nature of the admission, but let’s get something clear. FITSnews, the blog in question, isn’t a “liberal rag,” as Palin put it. The blog is listed as a conservative blog on the Washington Post Political Blog Network. In fact, in his admission of the scandal, he notes that he thinks Haley is the best candidate. Seems like Palin’s people either shot before steadying their aim or were trying to mis-represent the facts completely. source

Politics: Max Headroom: How pundits handled Rand Paul’s various fails

  • Canceled meetingThis summation that opened up “Meet the Press” kinda says it all. Paul said a lot of controversial stuff and then backed away when the spotlight got too hot. Gregory had a lot of questions to ask.

  • Sam Donaldson’s slam We forgot about this dude, and how awesome he can be at times. The way he pronounces “Maddow.” The way he takes Paul to task. “He didn’t say yes, but he didn’t say no, either.” Ow, that stings.

  • Maddow’s a “TV character”Sarah Palin suggests that Rachel Maddow was using Rand Paul’s appearance to make him sound stupid. To some degree, likely true. This doesn’t explain his comments about regulating BP on Friday.

Politics: Sarah Palin assumes everyone agrees with Arizona’s immigration law

  • It’s time for Americans across this great country to stand up and say ‘We’re all Arizonans now and, in clear unity, we say Mr. President, do your job, secure our border.’
  • Sarah Palin • In a speech stumping with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer designed to defend the state’s anti-illegal-immigration law. OK, let’s analyze this statement and how dumbheaded it is. The phrase “we’re all Arizonans now” suggests that nearly everyone agrees with this law. While many people favor it, there are lots of people that don’t, including many in the Latino community. Yet, she’s treating a law many are criticizing for reasons of racial profiling as if it’s a major populist statement. Populism doesn’t work with laws that divide the country, Sarah. Try this with abortion or gay rights and you’ll see what we’re getting at. source

Politics: We analyzed Sarah Palin’s Facebook page for some reason

  • What kind of jokers post on her wall, anyway? We were curious, so we decided to dig in, and found that fans of “Going Rogue” and people who want her to run for President are most prevalent, but occasionally, she gets ripped on by her own conservative base. Why? Check out our latest AOL News article to find out. (Photo courtesy geerlingguy on Flickr.) source

Politics: Max Headroom: Geraldo lets a good question leave his grasp

  • Maddow’s irish clone Sinead O’Connor and Rachel Maddow are talking about really serious stuff here – the whole Catholic Church abuse scandal. The activist/singer wants leadership to quit for putting reputation over the safety of children.
  • A good question, lost How did the GOP’s leading lights turn into Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann? Geraldo asked Bachmann this question directly, then asked if they would be running for president together. In both cases, she evaded.

  • Gossip, politics collideNaomi Campbell has attacked a lot of objects in her day, and the latest is a camera, which got it after an ABC News reporter asked a reasonable question about a diamond she reportedly got from an African leader. Scandal-ous!

Politics: Obama better watch out for “Generic Republican” in 2012

  • However, it is a problem for Republicans that no actual Republican can approach the performance of the generic candidate, probably because the generic candidate is Rorschach blot that allows each respondent to create what amounts to their fantasy candidate.
  • FiveThirtyEight blogger Nate Silver • Making a very astute point based on early polling for the 2012 presidential election. Essentially, while a “generic” Republican candidate can handily beat Obama right now, according to a compilation of polls he put together, no flesh-and-blood candidate can actually get close to that mark right now. The closest is Mitt Romney, who is less than six points behind. Sarah Palin, however, would be a wash, as she trails Obama by 14.4 points. Granted, it’s still very early (as Silver notes), and a lot can change, but that’s a fairly interesting signifying point. source

Politics: Sarah Palin’s rider almost as over-the-top as Spinal Tap’s

  • A couple of lucky college kids hit a goldmine. The California State University kids found a copy of the speaking engagement rider for Palin’s June speech at the school sitting in a trash can, and boy, is it amusing. Here are a few highlights:
  • one Option for a private jet. Must be large enough to fit the former governor’s ego.
  • two She must have access to straws that bend, or she totally walks. No bending here.
  • three Questions must be pre-screened. At private events, so must the stupid guests.
  • four Palin needs three hotel rooms. At least one of those must be set aside for her accent.
  • five If Levi Johnston shows up, kick him out. (OK, we made that one up.) source
