  • Jon “I’ve been in the news a lot lately” Stewart • Making a key point about another person who’s been in the news a lot lately, Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell, during a NPR interview. We can’t find any fault in his warning to Democrats, really. In other Stewart news, the dude apparently got an apology from Rick Sanchez today. In other Christine O’Donnell news, she released her first full campaign ad today, and it’s very apologetic about her various weird statements in the ’90s. In other other Christine O’Donnell news, Bill Maher is really pissed that she hasn’t gone on his show. “It hurt me. It hurt me very deeply,” Maher said. “I don’t like it when people forget who they’re friends are, you know, who they started out with.” Oh, and there’s also this. Wait, that’s only from 2006! Politics: Max Headroom: In memoriam of Rick Sanchez, a really weird anchor

  • look, CNN’s covering it!Gotta love Howard Kurtz’s comment at the beginning here, mentioning how he had to tear up his programming plans to cover Rick Sanchez’s firing from CNN. Kurtz goes over the Rick’s history with the network, including that bit where our boy got tased.
  • Mr. Twitter himselfOK, while the often-showy Sanchez probably made a lot of mistakes on the air at CNN, one really good thing he did was basically own Twitter before any other major news personality tried. Here, he discusses his experience hosting the tweet-obsessed 2009 Shorty Awards.
  • Behind the scenesEver wonder how “Rick’s List” was made? Neither did we. But in case you were wondering how the low-rated CNN show was created, here’s a clip. As you can see, Rick wears a chef’s hat and says, “I’m a big guy. I can take it.” If that were true, he wouldn’t be in this mess.

  • All he has to do is apologize to us, and we’ll hire him back.
  • Jon Stewart • Mocking Rick Sanchez’s comments on the Jewish media on Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars” charity event Saturday night. Stewart, who has gotten quite a bit of distance from the former CNN host lately, also made this quip to people thinking about donating: “If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media…you may want to hold on to your money.” AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Politics: “Rick’s List” redacted: Rick Sanchez fired from CNN

  • Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.
  • A statement from CNN • Responding to Rick Sanchez saying that Jon Stewart is a bigot and suggesting that CNN is run by Jews by firing him. He made those comments yesterday on CNN contributor Pete Dominick’s radio show. You think his Twitter followers are gonna save him now? By the way, his timing is pitch-perfect. His 8 p.m. show is going off the air to be replaced by a less-controversial figure: Eliot Spitzer (and, OK, Kathleen Parker). CNN will have to fill out Sanchez’s Twitter-infused 3 p.m. slot, though. Maybe the guy can get a job causing the Elian Gonzalez crisis in Miami again. source

Politics: Rick Sanchez’s journalistic high horse rings hollow to South Florida

  • One thing you may not know about Rick Sanchez is, before he became the iconic anchor who obsessed over finding interesting tweets, he was a longtime if-it-bleeds-it-leads-style anchor in South Florida, often focusing on the most lurid, ratings-grab stories he could find – which reportedly hit a peak during the overblown Elian Gonzalez era. At least thats how Broward-Palm Beach New Times puts it. So, the irony of him talking about journalistic integrity, as he does in the Fox News-chiding clip above, is a little striking to folks in the Miami area. (Thanks Billy Wachsberger) source

Politics: Rick Sanchez makes John Ensign feel all uncomfortable & stuff

  • Our Boy Rick Sanchez got Nevada Sen. John Ensign on his show to talk terror. Big deal, right? Well, except it was the first interview Ensign had done with CNN since his ethics scandal broke around the time Mark Sanford’s did. And Rick quickly changed the subject quickly to Ensign’s myriad ethics problems. Painful to watch.

  • Rick Sanchez’s burn Bill O’Reilly claimed there was a lack of coverage of the military recruiter murder story on CNN. Rick Sanchez disagreed.

  • O’Reilly’s apology The guy himself apologized, but not before calling Sanchez “a snide and surley guy on CNN.” Oooh, testy.
