Politics: Mitch McConnell punishes the world with another zinger

  • On health care: “The only thing bipartisan about it would be the opposition to it.” Zing! The Senate Minority Leader was on Fox News this morning talking about the possibility that health care could be saved, and he noted that the Democrats could salvage it using budget reconciliation (public option in tow), which would only require a simple up-down vote. “Whether there will be 11 Democrats who will vote against it is not clear,” he noted. source

Politics: More from Ryan Sorba, the gay-bashing conservative at CPAC

  • I think it’s the result of a complex process of social and environmental factors, but that it’s reversible.
  • Conservative gay-basher Ryan Sorba • Regarding his opinion on homosexuality. He was confronted about the issue by Alex Knepper, an American University student who is a gay conservative. Sorba was pretty much a jerk to Knepper, saying that Knepper had a lisp and went on about how homosexuality wasn’t a part of natural law. Sorba is a bizarre little part of the conservative movement, one who probably will be forgotten after CPAC. But man, he and his fringe opinions are so much fun to criticize now! source

Politics: Glenn Beck: The GOP just as bad as Democrats on spending

  • Hello, my name is the Republican Party, and I have a problem! I’m addicted to spending and big government.
  • Glenn Beck • Speaking at CPAC last night as if the Republican Party was at an AA meeting. The Fox News and radio host noted that both parties had big problems with spending during his speech – Democrats tax and spend, while Republicans just spend. Beck said that as a result, people were losing faith that things would improve. Beck’s comparison holds weight – between this and the Debbie Medina thing, he’s actually starting to sound smart! How did this happen? Is there hope for Glenn Beck yet? source

Politics: Point and laugh, guys: Ron Paul won the CPAC straw poll

  • 31% of CPACers think libertarian Ron Paul is the freaking MAN!
  • 22% support rapper-punching airplane passenger Mitt Romney
  • 7% think Sarah Palin is still actually kinda cool somehow source

Politics: Ryan Sorba: How did this gay-bashing jerkbag get on CPAC’s stage?

  • Ryan Sorba, shown in this clip here, bashed CPAC for bringing a gay conservative organization, GOProud, as a sponsor. And his arguments make him sound like a massive bigot. And he got booed pretty impressively. Hey, bigoted assclown, you’re supposed to be bringing more people under your tent, not less, OK? It’s pretty awesome that a huge conference of ultra-conservatives won’t put up with this kind of bigotry. source

Politics: We’d like to correct David Paterson’s reelection run speech

  • There’s so many people saying, ‘you shouldn’t run for governor.’ But you need to know this is a governor who does not quit will not win.
  • New York Gov. David Paterson • Who brushed off a New York Times article which should have been murder for his reelection chances to announce his plans today. Paterson, who is unpopular in his state, faces a challenge in the Democratic primary from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who, like the last attorney general (Eliot Spitzer) has bolstered his rep in that position. Paterson, on the other hand, is trying to use his underdog status – he has just $3 million in the bank, which is anemic for a gubernatorial campaign – to his advantage. Good luck with that, bro. This ain’t no movie comeback story where the underdog wins. source

Culture: Some crappy rapper was involved in the Mitt Romney incident

  • He grabs my shoulder .. and I just react BOOM get off me! He put a condor grip on me. What am I supposed to do?
  • LMFAO rapper Sky Blu • Regarding the Mitt Romney airplane incident where Romney reportedly got attacked by someone on an airplane. That someone was reportedly Sky Blu. LMFAO, who sucks so much that they can be put into the same sentence as Cisco Adler, is a shit-hop group. Yeah, that’s right, we called it shit-hop. What are you gonna do about it? Anyway, here’s the video of them explaining exactly what they say happened. Sky Blu claims Romney, that conservative icon, drew first blood. We hope he did. LOL. source

Politics: “Tamed, not eradicated”: Is Keith Obermann right on racism?

  • “Where are they? Where … are they?” Keith Olbermann’s recent statement on racism in the Tea Party movement strikes us as a little true, a little untrue, a little harsh, and a good bit needed. (The context which he brings to his criticism, going from Don Imus to John Mayer, helps his point some.) Now, there are black tea party members (who apparently stick out like sore thumbs if the photo we used with that article says anything), but the overarching point that he’s getting at is one much-better-explained than his MSNBC counterpart Chris Matthews – race is a complex thing in this country and the relative uniformity of the Tea Party movement is an example of how far we still need to go. Is he wrong? Are we? Let us know.

Politics: Duh: The New York Times says David Paterson sucks at his job

Dude doesn’t do anything. He’s worse than Eliot Spitzer ever was. He ignored a huge plane crash in Buffalo. He sucks. Don’t run again, dude. source
