The fact is, more than $3 billion of public money is invested in that building, and, as a public agency, we have the responsibility to make sure it is completed and that we utilize the best strategy to make certain it is fully occupied.
Stephen Sigmund • Spokesman for the Port Authority, on changing the name of “Freedom Tower” to the not-as-free-sounding “One World Trade Center.” We’re sure some nutjobs are going to claim the name changed because Bush isn’t in office, but we personally blame the proliferation of rapping flight attendants. It was beauty and bedlam. Officers don’t know what caused it, but chaos ensued at a tryout for “Top Model,” the Tyra Banks-helmed reality show, in New York yesterday. Six people were injured. Tenants like Botts are finding significant deals, even free months of rent, in a recession-belabored market. • source
It was circumstances that put this experienced crew (in charge) of that plane on that particular day. We were simply doing the jobs we were trained to do.
Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger • the heroic pilot of the US Airways flight that crashed into the Hudson River in New York City earlier this month; everyone survived largely because of his heroics. Sullenberger was honored in his hometown of Danville, Calif. yesterday. • source
