Tech: Glenn Beck has an online university, a crazy demeanor

  • If this shows up on a resume, potential employer, you know what to do. The Fox News and radio host, who has a tendency to bring up Nazis at a moment’s notice, is starting an online university, complete with professors, which plans to “show you how they influence America’s past, her present and most importantly her future.” It’s kinda like Regent University or Oral Roberts University, except the graduates come out even stupider than before. If Julius had his own university, he’d teach you how to rant in 200 words or less. source

Politics: Glenn Beck has common ground with George Soros, Scrooge McDuck

All three men LOVE gold. And much like Mr. McDuck, Glenn Beck is a cartoon character living in a fantasy world. But that’s besides the point. source

Politics: Sad state of affairs: The new Oprah is … Glenn freaking BECK?!

  • This book is Amazon’s top seller. It’s not exactly a barn-burner. It’s not new. It’s a tome written against the dangers of socialism in the wake of World War II, which shouldn’t exactly be flying off shelves. But it is. Why? Because Glenn Beck devoted an entire show to it. Which means that – sigh – Glenn Beck singlehandedly has the power to make books popular. Crap. We’re going back to bed. We didn’t wake up for this. source

Politics: Let’s face it. Helen Thomas deserved better than this.

  • Don’t get us wrong. What she said was offensive. It was worth dismissal. But then again, it was one terrible, damaging statement in a career which ranks up there with some of journalism’s greatest. As Twitter user Michael Markman notes, Michael Savage and Glenn Beck have said things nearly as offensive before lunch, and they get to keep their jobs. And now it’s over. Just like that. It’s not fair that she didn’t get to quit on her own terms. Let’s not remember her career for this gaffe but the 50 years that came before it. She deserves it. source

Politics: Average day: Glenn Beck says something stupid, apologizes

  • In discussing how President Obama uses children to shield himself from criticism, I broke my own rule about leaving kids out of political debates. The children of public figures should be left on the sidelines. It was a stupid mistake and I apologize–and as a dad I should have known better.
  • Glenn Beck • In an apology posted to his Web site this morning. What was it about? Well … he basically used Obama’s daughter Malia to criticize Obama, playing off a question she asked the president. Using “Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?” as a starting point, Beck asked a bunch of questions in that style, reaching a head with “Daddy…why do you hate black people so much?” Yeah. Malia’s going to be scarred for life because of this torrent of in-bad-taste commentary from Glenn Beck. Or not. source

Politics: Max Headroom: Godwin’s Law broken again and again

  • Glenn Beck: Nazi-obsessed The fact of the matter is, there are dozens of clips that feature the Fox News talker bringing up Nazi Germany. We’re going to use this one because he cries in the clip. If this were an isolated incident that’d be one thing, but he regularly does this song and dance.

  • Lewis Black: Stop it, Glen With this bevy of ammo, “The Daily Show’s” most gleefully annoyed commentator went on the attack, noting how Beck is the guy who regularly brings up Nazis. Inspired even for a “Daily Show” rant, Black makes a totally convincing argument in his spiel.

  • Newt: Full steam ahead Just days after Black’s deafening rant, Newt Gingrich compared the Obama administration to Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia (something he says in his new book). You’d think Black’s rant would perhaps quiet the Nazi comparison racket. Nope. Not so much.

Politics: Eric Massa loved his interns, but they didn’t love him back

  • It took a year of complaints to get Congress on Massa. So, let’s say you’re an employer, and you have a middle manager who keeps hitting on his interns and low-level staffers. He goes out of his way to puts them in weird situations. He says inappropriate things to them. And he talks a little salty at work. So, what do you do? If you’re senior Democratic staff, you keep it quiet for a year and let it blow up on Glenn Beck. Heck of a job, Brownie. source

Politics: Max Headroom: Bill O’Reilly upgraded to the voice of reason

  • Since, first, we missed it this weekend, and second, so much happened in the last 24 hours, we’re throwing you a special Monday edition of Max Headroom. Enjoy, and don’t say we don’t ever give you things!
  • civil wrong Glenn Beck needs to check his history books before he talks. Seems the guy who he was offended about looking like a civil rights marcher was Rep. John Lewis … a civil rights marcher. Oops.
  • O’Reilly: It was “Hysteria” The right-leaning talk radio dudes were so crazy today that even Bill O’Reilly was just like, holy crap, really? OK, granted, the GOP just lost a major political victory, but still. Wow.
  • sorry about that, guys On CNN today, Rep. Randy Neugebauer apologized for that “baby killer” comment in regards to Bart Stupak, but still stands by it. We stand by the “he who smelt it, dealt it” policy, really.

Politics: “Conservative Libertarian: Two great tastes that taste great together”

  • “What if you drew arrows from here to theocracy?” Oh man, Jon Stewart was in fine form last night, pulling out that Glenn Beck impression of his and making it even better than it was before. Beck is still crazy but occasionally says sensical things these days. This clip is 13 minutes, but it’s the best 13 minutes you’ll spend all day. source
