Whoa! That’s crazy! What happened? During a murder trial in Stockton, Calif., the defendant, accused of murdering his girlfriend, apparently became agitated and attacked the judge during a recess, called after the defendant’s mother stormed out of the courtroom. David Paradiso started punching the judge, and deputies shot at him, killing him. Whew. Talk about scary. source

Hamas not done yet A cease-fire may have been called on Israel’s end, but Hamas is standing strong. “A unilateral ceasefire does not mean ending the aggression and ending the siege,” said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum. “These constitute acts of war and so this will not mean an end to resistance.” source

The end toll Israel begins their cease-fire at 2 a.m. Sunday, believing that they’ve removed Hamas’ ability to attack the southern part of Israel with rockets. (Their cause wasn’t helped when – lo and behold – Hamas launched a rocket attack on Saturday.) In the end, the assault on Gaza led to more than 1,200 Palestinian deaths. source
