U.S.: Ahnold: They’re called wildfire evacuations for a reason

  • I want to urge everyone living near any of the fires, please, listen and follow evacuation orders from local officials. They will not tell you to evacuate if it’s not necessary.
  • California Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger • Discussing the threat that the wildfires are causing to people in Southern California – a threat that should be taken seriously. Three people were hurt today because they specifically didn’t listen to evacuation orders. 35,200 acres have burned thus far. • source

Politics: Arnold’s knife-wielding helped shrink California’s government

  • From the get-go, the governor was very tough in negotiations, and as a result we have a budget that substantially shrinks government. Conservatives have every reason to be overjoyed.
  • Republican Party officer Jon Fleischman • On California Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger’s hard-line approach to cutting California’s huge deficit. Schwartzenegger, a fiscal conservative, scored a huge political victory with the budget cuts. He closed off multiple roads to closing the gap (higher taxes weren’t an option, really) in an effort to make sure the cuts, in the end, meant smaller government. And he brandished a big knife in the process. • source

Offbeat, U.S.: Ah-nold: You call that budget cuts? Well, this is a KNIFE!

  • It doesn’t even matter what Arnold Schwartzenegger said in this video. We got the idea in the first second and a half. The governor of California, fresh off $26 billion in budget cuts, is brandishing a big knife. You said it all with your actions, man. source

U.S.: Who’s to blame for California’s IOU budget crisis, Ahnold or the Dems?

  • Ahnold sez the Democrats Gov. Arnold Schwartzenegger isn’t very happy that the state’s budget situation has gotten so bad that they have to hand out IOUs. “We don’t have the money to pay our bills,” he said. “It’s a sad story.” The Governator blames the Democrats in the legislature for hewing too closely to labor interests at the cost of the state.
  • The Democrats say Ahnold On the other hand, the lefties that the man who once was pregnant in a movie is blaming claim that his demand that the budget be fixed all at once caused the crisis. “I think the first priority is fixing the deficit,” said Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, “and it seems the governor’s first priority now is fixing his legacy.” Ouch! source

U.S.: Cali. Gov. Ahnold: Textbooks are heavy. Let’s get rid of them!

  • That’s one $350 million bill he doesn’t want to pay. Governator Arnold Schwartzenegger, looking for ways to save a little money in a huge deficit, is talking about getting kids out of textbooks and onto the Internet instead. And it’s not because the technology is so great. It’s because books are expensive and he has a $24.3 billion deficit to kill. *Whew.* Good luck duder. source

U.S.: The only salvation Ah-nold will get is “Terminator: Salvation”

  • Don’t to come to us for extra help. That was the message. And you know something? I appreciate that when you hear that from the people. It gives us a chance to go and adjust, and say ‘OK, we went in the wrong direction.’
  • California governor Arnold Schwartzenegger • Who faces a really crappy lame duck session in office after the people voted against his referendum to help pay for the massive deficit the state is facing. Sucks to be him, big time. • source

Culture: Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger may make a “Terminator” cameo yet

  • Despite lack of time, he’s willing “if they get the technology together.” The governator of California has a lot on his plate, such as a budget crisis, but he’s still willing to make time for a cameo in the movie that made him a big enough star to become governor of a state. Next month’s “Terminator: Salvation,” starring Christian Bale and already sporting killer trailers, may feature the original Terminator in a cameo role. We sure hope so, because that would rule. He agrees. “I think it’s cool to continue on with the franchise,” he said. source
