Culture: David Letterman is still feeling the effects from the sex scandal

  • I’ll be honest with you folks. Right now, I would give anything to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I get in the car this morning and the navigation lady wasn’t speaking to me. Ouch.
  • David Letterman • Speaking out on Monday’s show in response to his admission on Thursday that he slept with staffers. He initially didn’t want to bring it up again, but it’s still heavy on the news cycle. So he’s talking about it again. Perhaps the most painful thing thing about the controversy might be dealing with his wife Regina, who he didn’t mention in Thursday’s monologue at all: “”She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it.” Dude’s got a crappy next few months ahead of him. • source

Culture: T-Pain rips off “Autotune the News” (with their help)

  • There was always a ramshackle quality to the way that the kids from “Autotune the News” did their routine. Now, T-Pain’s doing his best impression of it on Kimmel. We originally thought it was a ripoff, but the Gregory Brothers helped them bring it to reality.

  • I was madly in love with him at the time. I would have married him. He was hilarious.
  • Hollywood producer Holly Hester • Describing her relationship with David Letterman in the early ’90s. The two of them had a year-long, secret romance which Letterman ended because of the age difference. The New York Daily News tried to interview her, but TMZ got there first and apparently offered her a lot of money. One thing that came out of Hester’s interview: Letterman has a secret bedroom directly above his studio. Well, he is the host of the show! • source

  • “Iron Man” writer Bob Layton • Describing the limited market and distribution of the comic book industry in the context of Disney’s recent purchase of Marvel Comics. Disney might push for a more Barnes & Noble-friendly approach to the print products. Layton goes further: “A large number of comic shops in America are dingy, poorly managed venues, akin to porn shops.” And they’re run by this guy. • source

Culture: TMZ said Maya Angelou was in the hospital. They were wrong. Ha!

  • They’re usually right about these sorts of things. From scooping every other mainstream media outlet by hours on Michael Jackson’s death to getting the photo of the Rihanna after the attack by Chris Brown, they usually nail the facts. But not this time. Word is that Angelou, who they said was rushed to an L.A. hospital, wasn’t even in L.A. at the time. Good job, goobers. source
