  • Everything that I type, Everything that I do, some gossip site makes it news.

But an unintended side effect of those tweets was the way that the more direct, honest ones – about her weight, for example – turned into gossip.   • I’m disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success.
  • “Southland” executive producer John Wells • On the cancellation of his show before a single episode of its second season had aired. Wells, who also produced “ER,” was screwed over by Jay Leno’s monopoly on most of the the good drama time slots. NBC may have just done permanent damage to its reputation with the Jay Leno experiment. • source

  • Colleagues are shocked by his arrest in the Letterman case. Halderman, a producer of “48 Hours,” covered wars and school shootings with a high level of get-the-story passion. But now that he’s on the other end, colleagues are shocked. Marcy McGinnis, a former boss of his at CBS, described “Joe” as a newshound who would do anything to get the story. “I said to my mother that this was like her waking up to find out I’d been arrested for this,” she noted. Halderman’s lawyer, Gerald L. Shargel, said that co-workers of his posted his bond, and that he was trying to “level the playing field” for his client. source

Culture: David Letterman: Avoiding scandal on the show

  • And his fans are just fine with that. For the first time since the sex scandal broke on Thursday’s show, David Letterman avoided discussing it on the show. So did his guests. Good for him. Why should his job be defined by a bunch of personal crap? In our opinion, he handled it well considering the circumstances. And if he were to keep talking about it, it’d be show after show of hell for him. So, give him his hour of scandal-free chat. source
