It’s way too convincing for an April Fool’s joke. In this reimagining,t hey lost the donut-shaped type, and added back Dunkie, a ’50s-and-’60s icon. Awesome. source

Tech: Engadget doesn’t know what to do with this JooJoo tablet

  • In terms of dumb tech moves, this ranks up there with Palm releasing the Pre the same week as the latest iPhone revision. The CrunchPad JooJoo hit Engadget’s desk today like a lump of coal, and while they want to review it and stuff, they also kinda hit on one of the busiest tech weeks of the year. Something about a tablet computer backed by a Silicon Valley guy with more cred than Michael Arrington. source

U.S.: Scott Roeder: Decision to kill George Tiller “agonizing and stressful”

  • You have the power to acquit and if you were to obey the higher power, God himself, you would acquit me.
  • Convicted killer Scott Roeder • Regarding the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller, which he still feels is just after a lengthy court trial. He killed Tiller, who performed late-term abortions, after debating it immensely. “It was the most agonizing and stressful decision I have ever had to make,” he said, “and it took years to come to this conclusion, especially with the knowledge that I may never see my son, my daughter or my family again.” Roeder was sentenced to life in prison with possibility of parole after 50 years – the strongest possible sentence under Kansas law. source

U.S.: Army Secretary John McHugh flip-flops on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

  • If you’re gay and you speak out, you could still get discharged. A day after telling reporters that there it would be “counterproductive” to “take disciplinary action against someone who spoke with me openly and honestly” on the military’s controversial “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, Army Secretary John McHugh admitted that he misspoke about what he really meant. Which, of course, means that those who talked to McHugh could get in trouble, if he could remember who they were. Protip to gays who spoke to John McHugh: Grow mustaches. source

  • three If all that stuff isn’t bad enough for the RNC, a fund-raising mailer released by the group directed readers to a sex chat line. Oops.

Politics: Obama’s still stumping for health care, this time in Maine

  • Every single day since I signed reform into law, there’s another poll or headline that says ‘Nation still divided on health reform! Polls haven’t changed yet!’ Well, yeah. It just happened last week. It’s only been a week!
  • President Barack Obama • Discussing the health care bill in Maine today. The president, whose political legacy rides on the success of the health care bill, got a tweak in at Sen. Olympia Snowe, saying she was a friend “and who spent many hours meeting with me about this bill.” But really, he main target was the media, which he hit with full force. “Can you imagine,” he said, “if some of these reporters were working on a farm, had planted some seeds and came out the next day and looked, ‘Nothing’s happened! There’s no crop! We’re going to starve! Oh no! It’s a disaster!’” Hey, that hurts, man! source

Politics: Guam-up: This dumb politician isn’t making an April Fool’s joke

  • Hank Johnson, who beat Cynthia McKinney in 2006, literally suggests in this clip that if Guam gets too over-populated, the whole country will tip over and capsize. Which may in fact be the dumbest thing we’ve ever heard a politician say. The general he’s talking to at this congressional meeting has the perfect response to defuse that mind nugget: “We don’t anticipate that.” That was actually fairly effective. source
