Culture: Oh, Matthew Fox. This weekend was NOT a “Party of Five”.

  • jack, you have to go back. No, really. Matthew Fox tried tried to join a bachelor party in Cleveland on Sunday morning. (He’s in town shooting a movie.) The party bus driver didn’t recognize him as a celebrity; she did recognize him as the “guy who assaulted me.” “I don’t care that he is a celebrity,” she told a reporter. “Assault is against the law.” He was detained in a patrol car before being released to a friend. No, we don’t think he was Lost, either. We’re pretty sure we know how this saga ends. Bad move, Jack. source

U.S.: “Lost” numbers could’ve netted you piece of Mega Millions jackpot

  • $150 made by picking 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 source
  • » Oh yeah, the full jackpot: The winning numbers – 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and 42 – scored two lucky dudes (in Idaho and Washington, separately) a split of the $355 million Mega Millions prize. We knew we should’ve bought a lotto ticket last night.

U.S., World: This dot on this map represents a guy in the middle of nowhere

Poor guy’s been isolated in the Brazilian Amazon for at least 15 years, possibly an uncontacted member of a decaying tribe. Which is kinda awesome. source

Music: “Hurley”: Weezer somehow tops itself with weird cover art

  • If anyone was wondering if Jorge Garcia would be able to find work after “Lost” ended, wonder no longer. Weezer’s new album cover, “Hurley,” tops “Raditude” in sheer randomness. It’s also their first record on Epitaph, which isn’t a major label. There are no words for how utterly bizarre this is, but then again, based on Rivers Cuomo’s recent stage antics, it’s par for the course. source

Culture: On the scale of “Dallas” to “M*A*S*H,” the “Lost” finale doesn’t rank

  • 13.5 million wasted their night watching the finale source
  • » As ratings go, meh: While prime-time television is nothing like it was in 1983, it’s worth noting that this total is a eighth of what the “M*A*S*H” finale brought in, and a fourth of the 2004 “Friends” finale. According to junk culture hotbed Wikipedia, it’s only the 55th-most watched finale of all time. Sucks to be network television in 2010.

Culture: Three early predictions of what will happen after the “Lost” finale

  • one The series will end,
    leaving a gaping
    hole in ABC’s fairly
    solid schedule.
  • two Fans will remain
    incredibly disappointed
    and ask why they
    wasted their lives.
  • three Some other show
    will take its place next
    season and it will be
    forgotten. source

Tech: Gizmodo says that iPhone lost in a bar isn’t fake, but actually real

  • The phone was remotely killed. The Daring Fireball dude says he called around and believes Apple lost a prototype. iTunes recognizes it as an iPhone. It uses MicroSIM, which no phones use (but the iPad 3G does). Most importantly, the guts of the phone are all labeled “Apple.” Holy crap. This is major. This may be the biggest leak to ever get out of Apple. source
