Offbeat: Some guy with 600 cups builds a fort, quickly destroys it

  • He spent ten hours on this, if you can believe it. We usually avoid YouTube celebrities when posting videos because they’re usually incredibly lame (we’re looking at you, SHAYTARDS), and this guy is pretty lame, too, but anyone who spends a really long time assembling cups like this deserves love from us.

Culture: Audi’s “Green Police”: A great joke people don’t seem to get

  • The second-best ad on last night’s Super Bowl is a huge talker – an Audi ad that takes the idea of political correctness to a stupidly high degree. Problem is, it hits a little too close to the bone for a lot of people. Why? Because it takes political correctness to a level that many people have suspected already existed for years, whether or not the “green police” really existed. Reason Magazine (who you figure would be all over this) nail the comparison: This is Mike Judge‘s vision of the future. Satire at its best makes you feel most uncomfortable. (The use of Cheap Trick in the ad is also pitch-perfect and completely non-controversial.)

Tech: 4chan blocked by Verizon Wireless. Will they ever learn?

  • You just don’t block 4chan. You just don’t. Back in July, the site – which revels in offensiveness and the more controversial end of free speech – was blocked by AT&T over reports of a denial of service attack, later found to be caused by a “network error.” The case with Verizon Wireless, however (which doesn’t affect landline DSL connections, by the way), was based on content. Site owner moot was told the site was “explicitly blocked” by the company. Net neutrality was created for this reason, guys. source
