Pitney is getting lots of criticism because apparently he knew Obama would be calling on him, despite the fact that, well, he asked a question that wasn’t pre-screened and was merely planned (from an Iranian citizen).   • Dude wasn’t in the Appalachians on Naked Hiking Day. This story had already taken a turn for the bizarre when we covered it yesterday, but now it’s switched from bizarre to awesome. South Carolina governor Mark Sanford, earlier reported to be chilling in the same spot as a buncha naked hikers, was instead chillin’ in Buenos Aires, Argentina – which just so happened to be the first place we looked for him. In other news, his Lt. Governor, Andre Bauer (sadly, not Andre Braugher) is fuming mad and wants to talk to Mr. Exotic RIGHT NOW AAARGH RAGE! source

U.S.: D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty: Blame us for the Metro crash

  • We do have an independent train system… [but] let’s not try and disperse the blame. Let’s put it on the decision makers and the leaders.
  • Adrian Fenty • Speaking this morning on “Good Morning America,” taking blame for Monday’s D.C. Metro crash, which killed nine people. The cause of the crash appears to be faulty, outdated equipment which wasn’t replaced when recommended, as the train driver (who was also killed) did press the emergency brake and there were were automatic mechanisms in place that should have prevented the crash. The fact that Fenty is so willing to put his neck out is bold. • source
