Politics: “Going Rogue” leak: Sarah Palin trashes Katie Couric & John McCain

  • Perhaps the biggest target of Sarah Palin’s scorn in “Going Rogue”? Katie Couric, with whom she had a miserable interview last year during the McCain campaign. The former vice presidential wannabe also says (according to Drudge, who got a copy of the book) that McCain’s people blocked her from having any meaningful discussion with the press. If you’ve heard her speak since, you know exactly why, and it’s probably better she was held back. In other news, Levi’s Playgirl shoot featured a hockey stick.source

Politics: The speech we missed Sarah Palin give on election day 2008

  • It’s been just 68 days since that afternoon in Dayton, Ohio, when Sen. McCain introduced me as his running mate. He is truly the maverick. My fellow Americans, tens of millions of you shared our convictions and gave us your votes. And I thank you for your confidence. We were facing tough odds and formidable opponents.
  • The words of 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin • In a speech she would have given had John McCain won the presidency last year. Palin didn’t get to give a losing speech, either – McCain’s handlers decided it was best to let the old man handle the loss himself. If the former Alaska governor had given a losing speech, she would have said this: “I wish Barack Obama well as the 44th president of the United States. If he governs America with the skill and grace we have often seen in him, and the greatness of which he is capable, we’re gonna be just fine.” This is painful to look at now, considering how dirty American politics have gotten. • source

Politics: Max Headroom: We think Rush Limbaugh has a crush on Sarah Palin

  • Really, Rush? This week on “Fox News Sunday,” the network gave Rush Limbaugh a chat similar in style to Obama’s sitdown chat a month or two ago on other networks. The best nugget is where he says that Sarah Palin’s ready to be, uh, president.

  • Wild thing Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s darkest mark on his record is his link to the hiding of Pat Tillman’s friendly fire death. Here, “Into the Wild” author Jon Krakauer calls McChrystal’s denial of a Tillman cover-up “preposterous” and “unbelievable.”

  • Swine fool In an interview with Russia Today, everyone’s favorite crazy old guy, Ron Paul, goes on and on about how the U.S.-funded swine flu vaccine was a bad idea and a huge waste of money. We don’t say this very often, but: Shut up, Ron Paul.

U.S.: Dede Scozzafava falls to conservative pressure in N.Y. House race

  • It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support.
  • New York Republican Dede Scozzafava • On suspending her congressional campaign. The race is something of a symbol of the deep divisions in the Republican Party at the moment. Despite being the “official” candidate, many conservatives (most notably Sarah Palin, but notably NOT Newt Gingrich) supported Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman. • source

Politics: Daily Poll: An absurdly early 2012 GOP presidential straw poll

  • The Washington Post’s Monday Fix got us to thinking this week due to their power list of Republicans in 2012. Sarah Palin is on top of it. And in a minor upset, Tim Pawlenty is in front of Mitt Romney. And Mike “always a bridesmaid, never a bride” Huckabee is standing pat in fourth. Now, we know it’s early and it doesn’t mean anything, but we’d like to know who you’d most likely vote for in 2012, if given the choice. This is obviously unscientific and mostly for fun. And feel free to tell us how much you hate (insert object of scorn here) in the comments.source

Politics: Daily Poll: Would Sarah Palin be bad news for the GOP in 2012?

  • Steve Schmidt, who worked with Palin in the 2008 campaign as John McCain’s chief campaign strategist, says she’d be a disaster. As these things usually are, it was a huge PR windfall for Palin, who stomped on it. The question is, is he right? Is he wrong? Vote.source
