Our circulation sucks. Let’s kill the paper! In a hack and slash maneuver with negative ramifications for tons of journalists, the Times has announced layoffs of 40% of their staff. They also plan to trim the paper back significantly and focus on the right-leaning chatter that has earned the paper a circulation that’s only a fraction of the size of The Washington Post. Is less sports and more crazy the answer? We’ll find out. source

What is up with the Swiss? First the bank accounts, then Roman Polanski, now this. It’s like we don’t know you anymore. Anyway, it appears likely that the country will constitutionally ban minarets – one of the strongest physical features of most mosques – after a referendum. 59% of those who voted favored the ban, according to exit polls. source

Tareq and Michaele Salahi totally crashed the White House’s state dinner last night, and they did it in a blatant way, with Facebook photos, time with Rahm Emanuel (above) and no security clearance.
