• Like shooting fish in a barrel: As you might guess, MSNBC had a bit of a field day with the University of Maryland’s study that suggested that Fox News leaves viewers more misinformed. Let’s face it, if MSNBC couldn’t do an entertaining report on this story, why do they even exist? To give Contessa Brewer work? To make Rachel Maddow sound like the voice of reason? So Dylan Ratigan can make randomly awesome speeches? Let’s face it, as objective as they like to pretend to be on the surface, they live for stories like this one.

• imaginary friends = Unhealthy This Fox News clip just makes us laugh. Father Jonathan Morris, who moonlights as a Fox News contributor, discusses why we need prayer to get through our toughest times. Hilariously, the study also suggests that atheists could benefit, too, with the help of an imaginary friend, a suggestion he pooh-poohs. And then, from there, it gets weird.
• Larry King’s last stand “Instead of goodbye, how about ‘so long’?” We admit that we greatly enjoyed the comfort food that Larry King put on our plates for most of our adult lives. There’s nobody like him – those suspenders, those glasses, those ties, that hair – and Piers Morgan won’t be a good substitute no matter how many British tabloids he edited before becoming minorly famous.

• Oh Alan … Lame Duck congressman Alan Grayson decided to make the most of his last month in office by calling out every single GOP loudmouth he could think of on the floor of Congress today, pointing out that all of them stand to gain by extending the Bush tax cuts – many of them in seven figures. Best bit: Noting that George W. Bush will make over $100,000 from his own tax cuts. This oughta get a lot of play on Fox News tomorrow morning. source

• This is a race where there’s going to be a lot of Monday Morning Quarterbacking regarding the Tea Party.
• Fox News analyst Carl Cameron • Bringing some perspective to the whole Harry Reid/Sharron Angle situation. As Cameron notes, the seat seemed likely to turn GOP … until Angle became the nominee. Reid was that unpopular in Nevada. But Angle proved to be a very weak competitor (even though she was in it until the end), meaning that Reid gets another six years, as well as another run at Senate Majority Leader. Honestly, this was the biggest loss of the night for the GOP, and one that they can attribute directly to Tea Party influence. source

• Racism = Promotion? Newsbusters pulled this clip as if to vilify Andrew Sullivan for his views on Juan Williams, but it seems like they don’t have much to go on. It seems to us he’s questioning the corporate culture in general here.
• Clip after clip Rachel Maddow made a good point about the Juan Williams thing here, noting that controversial comments about Muslims are a common theme on Fox News – and importantly, it’s not a first amendement issue.
• After the storm On “Fox News Sunday,” there was a lot of rallying around Juan Williams, who is now a full-time anchor for the network. It seems, in fact, downright lovey-dovey. Aww, it’s a love-in with Brit Hume!

• This seems like a not-so-subtle attempt to remind people that for all those Web-centric services out there, the local news was first. Our favorite part is when they pull out the Skype. (Thanks Charles Apple for bringing this clip to our attention.)

• $20 million cost, but goddamn, that was some good TV

• » So, who pays the bill? Well, you would assume the mining company that owned the mine, San Esteban Primera, but they’re nearly broke. So state-owned company Codelco has owned the effort, paying $15 million of the total cost, with private firms paying the rest. Expect lawsuits and criminal charges.

• What the hell, dude? Considering all the classiness currently going around on all sides of the media, it’s taking a lot to draw our collective attentions, but Neil Cavuto did it here, pointing out – while Michelle Obama was making a speech honoring of the victims of United Flight 93 (!) – that Obama was not famous when the attack took place. Who cares? Just shut up and wait to make your petty, meaningless political point on another day. Note how Michelle was actually saying something relatively heartfelt and meaningful. You couldn’t have that, could you? source
