World: For shame, murderous Russian bear on ice skates. For shame.

  • Maybe “Bears on Ice” wasn’t such a great idea. A Russian circus troupe is in mourning today after a bear who was supposed to be on ice skates killed circus administrator Dmitry Potapov and mauled an animal trainer. OK, we know. Russia has a long history of putting bears in the circus, but we think even we’d draw the line at ice skates. Screw the Ice Capades. source

U.S.: Father doesn’t know best: Iraq-born man attacks “Westernized” daughter

  • Classy, buddy. Police are looking for 48-year-old Arizona resident Faleh Hassan Almaleki after he allegedly ran over his daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, along with a friend. His apparent reason? He was angry that she had strayed from her traditional Iraqi values and “had become too ‘Westernized.'” Which is a classy way of responding to the situation, especially since Noor is suffering from life-threatening injuries. source

Offbeat: That dead body hanging around outside? Not a Halloween prop

  • One neighbor said he saw the body on Monday but didn’t do anything about it because It looked like a Halloween prop. You could see the body in plain view on the third floor. It did look unreal.
  • RMG News director Austin Raishbrook • Describing the bizarre sight of a body laying outside of an apartment complex in Marina Del Rey, Calif. It wasn’t reported right away because it looked like a Halloween prop. Seriously. What convinced people to finally call authorities? Uh, there was some blood dripping onto the ground. Yuck. • source

Tech: Snow Leopard has teeth: Apple’s new OS has a really big bug.

  • Do not log into the guest account. Since last month, users have been reporting a major Snow Leopard flaw on Apple’s support forums. Essentially, if you log into a guest account after you upgrade, then log out and go to your regular account, everything’s gone. And you can’t get it back. Yikes. This is not the kind of thing that users run into every day, but it’s a common enough feature to freak us out. source
