Most. Annoying. News. Story. Ever. Nothing against Michael Jackson or his fans or his memory, but this thing needs to go away. Hopefully, after this memorial, we can all get on with our lives.source
We *think* that’s good, but man, we wish they’d clarify. Patrick Tracy Burris, 41, was identified by authorities as the man killed in a standoff with police in Gastonia, N.C. While they’re not 100% certain he’s the guy, they say he probably is. We’re sure there will be some evidence which will verify this in the coming days, but until then, expect the words “think” and “probably” to be tied very closely to the man who killed five people in Gaffney, South Carolina in the last two weeks. source
If he comes to me, face to face, I’m ready, I’m loaded, and I’m aimed for him.
Gaffney, S.C. resident Sarah Banister • On what she plans to do if the serial killer in her town, who has killed five people in nine days, tries to attack her. Here’s our question: What would you do if you were face-to-face with a serial killer? • source
The situation? Pretty scary overall. Shot to death with a semiautomatic pistol, Steve McNair’s death was ruled a homicide, but police have yet to decide one way or another on the death of Saleh Kazemi, his 20-year-old girlfriend killed by a single bullet. The scene was found by two of his close friends, one of whom, former Alcorn State teammate Robert Gaddy, called 911. “It was like something you might imagine seeing on TV or in the movies,” said Gaddy, “but never imagine you would see it firsthand, to have that happen to someone you love. I am still shook up.” source
McNamara, the secretary of defense in an era defined by one of the nation’s deadliest wars, is dead at 93. Beyond his most noted accomplishment (which stretched during the presidencies of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson), he also spent tenures leading the World Bank (before Vietnam) and Ford Motor Co. (after Vietnam). But really, his pushing of the often-unpopular Vietnam War is what he’ll be remembered for.source
McNair, a former NFL star with a co-MVP award under his belt, was found killed with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head in the Nashville apartment of Sahel Kazemi, a 20-year old woman who was described as McNair’s girlfriend. source
Kazemi, who had with a single gunshot wound to the head, was found with the murder weapon nearby. While the case seems to have the makings of a murder-suicide, investigators haven’t ruled anything out yet. Autopsies will take place today. source
He ran into a stationary train. Noone else was hurt. The crash took place around 2 a.m. when there was light traffic. One family was stuck in a train car after the crash and had to be released, but was otherwise unhurt. The monorail system is shut down for the moment. Mike Griffin, Disney’s vice president for public affairs, honored the driver: “Today we mourn the loss of our fellow cast member. Our hearts go out to his family and to those who have lost a friend and co-worker.” source
He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl.
