World: Did vandals set it free? Infamous Auschwitz sign stolen

  • This sign is infamous. It says “arbeit macht frei,” or “work sets you free.” It’s hung up over the Auschwitz memorial. Well, it was until someone stole it in the middle of the night last night. Who did it? Holocaust deniers? Neo-Nazis? A couple of stupid kids looking to cause some trouble? People who hate being reminded of what happened in Auschwitz?   • Please pray like never before. my 2 yr old fell in the pool.
  • Blogger @military_mom (a.k.a. Shellie Ross) • Regarding the drowning of her son. Many are up in arms about the fact that she tweeted about the incident half an hour after it happened. He died a few hours later. Our feeling? Twitter is just a communication mechanism like any other. It’s as easy to use as texting or phone calls, or any other mechanism you use. Twitter isn’t a faddish thing – Twitter is a communication mechanism. People can and will use it for this. Are we wrong? Let us know. (Either way, and let us be clear – this is a sad story and that doesn’t take away from that one bit. We actually find the New York Post story that brought up the issue to be quite disrespectful.) source

Culture: NFL star Chris Henry dies after bizarre domestic incident

  • The Cincinatti Bengals star fell out of the back of a moving truck. Henry, who suffered life-threatening injuries after he fell out of the truck, was in the midst of a domestic situation with his fiancee yesterday. The incident drew a lot of attention last nights after early reports said that he died. Well, now it’s a bit more official. Sadly. source

Culture: Roy Disney, Walt’s nephew, just died. He revitalized Disney.

  • The modern Disney, as we know it, is thanks to him. Roy Disney, who died of stomach cancer at 79, was responsible for the revitalized focus on animation seen in such modern classics as “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Aladdin.” On the downside, the company eventually pulled away from this focus as the hits stopped coming, but they realized the error of their ways. Eventually. Either way, Roy spent 56 years with Disney, all of which being awesome. Peace out, bro. source
