U.S.: Father of the year: Soldier accused of waterboarding young daughter

  • The daughter wouldn’t recite her ABCs. Joshua Tabor, of Tacoma, Wash. was arrested Jan. 31 for the incident. Knowing that the 4-year-old was afraid of water, he threatened her using the technique more traditionally – and controversially – used on terror suspects. Tabor was angry because he feels she’s mentally behind her age; investigators noted that she seemed normal. So yeah. Scary. source

Sports: There’s a sad ending for Mike Tyson’s daughter Exodus :(

  • She was taking off life support this morning. Exodus, victim of a terrible accident involving a treadmill, died this morning at 11:45 a.m. It’s perhaps one of the more gut-wrenching stories we’ve run lately and we wish the best to the Tyson family in this difficult time. source

Sports, U.S.: Mike Tyson’s daughter on life support after accident :(

  • A control cord from a treadmill was wrapped around her neck. The boxer’s 7-year-old daughter, Exodus, was discovered by his 4-year old son yesterday at Tyson’s Phoenix home. She was caught wrapped up in the cord of a treadmill machine console. The scene was apparently quite scary and the family is requesting thoughts and prayers. “Those are the things that stay with you in your career,” said Sgt. Andy Hill of the Phoenix P.D. “We always hope for a miracle — not to have the worst happen to a child.” source

Culture: Another little bundle of joy for the Afflecks

  • Jennifer Garner + Ben Affleck = Baby No. Two. Garner gave birth to a healthy baby girl yesterday. None of the really cool details, like name or photos, have been released to the press. You gotta give that sort of thing time, guys! We hope they name her something really cool, like Apple or Pilot Inspektor.
