U.S.: The Obamas need a church. Must be in D.C. No crazy pastors.

  • It’s extremely competitive. Every church in the city is trying to attract the Obamas.
  • Michael A. Brown • D.C. city councilman, on the Obama family plight of finding a new church in Washington. Part of the struggle they face is that they need to find one without a controversial pastor, so Obama’s staff is vetting preachers. The Obamas will likely try out a church in the city tomorrow, Easter Sunday. • source

Offbeat: Two things you might want to do on Easter, together at last

  • A bar in Little Rock, Ark. will host services at a local bar on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Beer might be part of the menu, but they need to check out their liquor license. (Someone say BYOB?) source
  • It’s Easter this Sunday. So all you Christians who go to church once a year, why not fight the urge to not go and perhaps get a little tipsy at the same time? Jesus died for your sins; toast him! source

Due to its distinct architecture, it creates a shadow at certain times of the day that looks exactly like a woman’s breast. There are times at ShortFormBlog where we just throw our hands up because the jokes write themselves: Click the link to see a boob! source

U.S.: A departing New York cardinal spices up the priestly celibacy debate

  • Hey, priests should have laaaaaaadies, too! Amid all the hullabaloo around the retirement of Edward M. Egan, some spare comments he made about allowing priests to marry has relit the flame to a long-standing debate in the Catholic Church. Egan told an Albany radio station regarding celibacy, “I think that it’s going to be discussed; it’s a perfectly legitimate discussion.” Allowing marriage might help reverse the shortage of priests that’s been dogging parishes lately. This may not happen, though. The Church doesn’t back down very easily. source

Culture: This is what happens when you create a show about polygamy

  • Obviously, it was not our intention to do anything disrespectful to the church, but to those who may be offended, we offer our sincere apology.
  • HBO • In a statement about their show “Big Love” and its portrayal of an endowment ceremony within a Mormon temple. Well, mayhaps, but you’re still airing the episode, aren’t you? So, even with the apology, you’re still getting boycotted. Good job! • source
