Tech: OK, print’s dead, graphic designers. Here’s how to go Web.

  • Take print philosophy online In this era where the Internet is quickly changing how people read and gather content, it’s becoming more and more clear that you have to perk up your web skillz as a graphic designer. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up your print techniques – Brian Hoff of DesignCubicle notes that they might even be an asset. (And cool grids already exist, which should ease the pain. Whoo.) source

  • Cool examples of print as web Obviously, The New York Times does a pretty great job approximating the print experience. But other sites, such as Jason Santa Maria’s amazing personal Web site focus on doing something most sites suck at: Providing content-based design rather than forcing content into a rigid CMS. Food for thought, designers looking to switch over. You can do this. source

Tech: So Google, you have a new venture capital fund. Wanna help us?

  • We have a pretty cool, innovative format going on here. We’re not lame like most of those other blogs out there. We have a sense of humor and good taste in music. If this web site’s URL had a girlfriend, it’d be an Asian Design major. source
  • There are lots of ways you could help us – priority in search results, usage of Gmail and Google Docs – but ultimately, we think the best way would be giving us lots of money, so we could hire a huge staff. Thanks in advance. source

Tech: Sony cuts the price of the wrong Playstation console

  • $99 for the PS2. April 1st. Who cares? OK, OK, we know. The Playstation 2 was only the most popular console of all time, until recently. But it’s not like anyone cares that much about the thing anymore, not when there’s a console war going on, and they have a PS3 that costs $399, $150 more than its biggest competition. This is why you’re getting killed in the marketplace, dudes. source

Tech, World: “Wii Fit” has the opposite effect for this guy who died

  • He was healthy. Very healthy, actually. He rode bikes, he played drums in a rock band, yet Tim Eves couldn’t handle the physical activity of the Nintendo Wii’s popular “Wii Fit.” The twentysomething Brit collapsed and died in front of his girlfriend and best friend. Yikes. :( source

Tech: Mark Zuckerberg still thinks Facebook has a lot to grow

  • Two hundred million in a world of six billion is tiny. It’s a cool milestone. It’s great that we reached that, especially in such a short amount of time. But there is so much more to do.
  • Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg • In an article about the company’s super-sized growth. Despite the growth, the article focuses on whether it’s growing too fast for its own good. Considering how many people get ticked off by a redesign, we argue yes. • source
