A comment on Sarah Palin’s Facebook page • Which was subsequently deleted. Palin does this a lot – her Facebook page is immaculately vetted, something that seemed very likely to us when we noticed basically everyone on Palin’s Facebook page was pro-Sarah a couple of months ago. Palin’s staff deletes a lot of comments – good, bad, not really that bad at all – but fortunately for us, Slate devised a script that grabbed those comments so we could read them before they got deleted. Good show, guys. source
What a beautiful scene, right? Too bad it’s no longer open to the public. The Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center at Mount St. Helens was closed back in 2007 due to staffing issues – but, as the GOP is quick to remind you, it’s getting new glass windows anyway thanks to the stimulus. It’s just one of the recipients Senators Tom Coburn and John McCain pointed out in their list of the 100 worst stimulus projects. Our personal favorite? Monkeys on cocaine. source
I do not understand the connection with ‘big ears’ and ‘racism’, and I do not understand how a ‘dark face’ implies racism … The accusation of ‘hate’ is true, but it is the hate of an IDEOLGY, not a of race of people …
The anonymous author of Tea Party Comix • In an e-mail to underground comix collector Ethan Persoff, regarding his works, which parody Barack Obama in a very offensive way. We’ll let you see them if you really want to (note: racist comix at the link), but beyond the clearly incendiary design of them, they’re subversive in an R. Crumb/early Art Spiegelman way. Which is not to defend them but to note their obvious inspiration. These comix have drawn a lot of attention in the last few days, with the Modern Tea Party claiming they were planted by the Democrats, and everyone else in simple disbelief. Including us. What a terrible idea. source
Talkin’ ’bout cajones On “Fox News Sunday,” Sarah Palin totally stumbled through what she was trying to say, only to make an amazing comeback by suggesting that Jan Brewer has the cajones to take on immigration – and Barack Obama doesn’t.
Gettin’ used to AmanpourCNN’s “Reliable Sources” seems to not know what to make of Christiane Amanpour’s first appearance on “This Week,” with Howard Kurtz and his guests stumbling over themselves to say the same thing – she’s new.
Anthony Weiner = cajonesPeople in New York, you have pretty much the loudest congressman in history. And we mean that in the nicest way possible. We swear. This scene in Congress last week is a method acting tour de force disguised as anger at the GOP.
People have every right to be scared, to be angry, to be frustrated. I don’t expect the American people to be satisfied when we’re only half of the way back.
President Barack Obama • Backpedaling from his eight-month-old claims that his administration earned “a solid B+” for its work. Of course, that angered a bunch of people who feel like he hasn’t done his job completely. So now, he’s taking a different approach to the whole grade thing. “We still have a long way to go,” he says. But on the other hand, he claimed that his administration wasn’t getting the credit it deserves. So yeah, in the back of his mind, he’s still thinking, “we’re totally a B+, and we passed health care!” source
