Culture: Trashy reality star update: Tila Tequila attacked by Juggalo mob

  • yes Tequila was performing at a Juggalo festival in Illinois when she was attacked by the crowd. She suffered cuts in the insane incident. We want a Faygo all of a sudden.
  • no Snooki can’t trademark her name. Why? See, the creators of the kids’ book “Adventures of Snooky” grabbed the name for a cartoon cat way back in 2004.

Culture: “Auto-tune the News” dudes turn an attempted rape into a TV pilot

  • The Gregory Brothers (and sister-in-law) have been turning autotuned news reports into gold for over a year now, and as “Bedroom Intruder” proves, they’re only getting better at their mad viral video skillz. More than the original clip itself, it turned Antoine Dodson into a star (and the attempted rape behind the video into the most-publicized attempted rape on record). So, it was only a matter of time until they turned their skills into a deal with a TV network – and a behind-the-scenes-focused pilot with Comedy Central is in the cards. Sometimes the internet is awesome. source

Culture: We support this: Raise two middle fingers to cancer

  • Over the last few days, we’ve been reading a bunch about Chris Courtney’s battle with cancer, and it’s a pretty tough read, but they don’t make people braver than Courtney. (He’s a fun guy in person, to boot.) Courtney, who was design director of the Chicago Tribune’s RedEye for a number of years before switching his focus to mobile app design, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which has a high survival rate, but definitely isn’t a walk in the park. So, his friends made this site. And you know what? This is the new Livestrong. Kick cancer’s ass, Chris. We got your back. *middle fingers raised* source

Culture: “Eat Pray Love” the latest gripe of disgruntled literary agents

  • Oh my God, it was insane. It’s my most-hated thing as an agent.
  • Russell & Volkening Literary agent Jesseca Salky • Discussing how the success of “Eat Pray Love,” and its universal theme of redemption after major change has annoyed literary agents to no end. Salky said she used to get up to 30 submissions per week that referenced the ultra-popular book, and she wasn’t alone. The type of novel it was suggested anyone could write a book like it. And well, they can’t. source

Culture: Will Ferrell: Meet a guy really desperate for another hit
