U.S.: Gen. Stanley McChrystal isn’t talking so big this morning, is he?

Look, general … can I call you Stan? You said some stupid crap to Rolling Stone that undermines my authority. Why shouldn’t I fire you? source

Music: Rapper turns death rumors (lemons) into PR opportunity (lemonade)

  • All these rumors that I’ve been shot are phony just like half the rappers in the game. I’m still here, promoting my R.E.D. Album, so when it drops, go get it or else you might end up dead like me (laughs).
  • Rapper Game • Dispelling the rumors about his untimely demise and at the same time getting his new album a little much-needed publicity, which he hasn’t had a lot of lately, because he’s Game (formerly “The Game,” which was way cooler). For a period today, “the game dies in shooting” was the top trend on Google, giving the rapper an opportunity to live to see some of that Tupac money. source

U.S.: The Nook and Kindle are shaking in their boots over the iPad

  • $359 the Amazon Kindle 2’s original sale price a little over a year ago
  • $259 the Barnes & Noble nook’s original price, which matched Amazon’s
  • $199 the updated price of the 3G Barnes & Noble nook
  • $149 the price of the new wi-fi only version of the nook
  • $189 the updated price of the Amazon Kindle 2 source
  • » How did they do do it?: Simple answer: The books are going to cost a heck of a lot more. We said a few months ago that the nook would prove the Kindle’s death knell, but the truth is that the iPad is doing it instead. There’s enough evidence that Apple’s infringing on their territory that they pretty much had to lower the price of the devices. To keep a long-term audience, Amazon’s next Kindle has to knock it out of the park, guys.

Politics: Average day: Sarah Palin and Rahm Emanuel are fighting

  • RahmEmanuel= as shallow / narrowminded / political / irresponsible as they come,to falsely claim Barton’s BP comment is ‘GOP philosophy’ Rahm,u lie.
  • A tweet from @SarahPalinUSA • Criticizing Rahm Emanuel for making a big issue of the Joe Barton thang. The tweet references another Republican Joe – Joe Wilson – who famously shouted “You Lie” at Obama during a speech about health care last year. White House spokesman Bill Burton pointed out that other Republicans agreed with Barton (true) and continued, “We’re satisfied that we’re doing everything we can to take care of the folks in the Gulf region, and if she doesn’t want to own Congressman Barton’s comments, that doesn’t surprise me.” In other news, whatever Sarah Palin says becomes news. source

Politics: Duh: The DNC takes on Joe Barton’s apology in new attack ad

  • You know, it’s a pretty petty ad. It’s a story big enough that most people know the ebb and flow of the situation. (And there’s no mention of the apology for the apology.) But in all honesty, if the Democratic National Committee hadn’t done something with this, it would’ve been disappointing. It’s almost like a “get out of crisis free” card. Except not really. source

Biz: Financial reform bill: Debit card fee hataz have a reason to be happy

  • Remember the financial bill? Oh yeah, that thing. One of the many feathers in Obama’s cap. Well, the bill, which has already passed the Senate, needed some changes to pass muster with the house. The biggest one for consumers and small businesses? The insanely high fees on debit card transactions, which were responsible for big profits for card companies at the cost of small businesses. Well – great news! – after a little work, the House finally struck a tentative deal on this issue. There are lots of other things to still hash out, though, including the biggie for investors (and people who don’t want to see their financial system fall apart) – regulating derivatives. source

U.S.: Faisal Shahzad’s guilty plea has a little extra for conspiracy kooks

  • It’s a war. I am part of the answer to the US terrorizing the Muslim nations and the Muslim people.
  • Wannabe Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad • Using fighting words during his guilty plea, which he verified 100 times over. He said that if the U.S. didn’t leave Iraq and Afghanistan, “we will be attacking US.” So put that in your pipe and smoke it. The dude can’t even build a proper car bomb! (In other news, we’ve had an open-and-shut terror attempt in the time that the oil spill has been spewing.) source

  • 12% don’t really have much of an opinion either way source
