  • We get the feeling that the summer of socialism allegations has permanently damaged the president’s ability to rise above political name-calling like this. Come on, Obama, don’t stoop to their level! Don’t trash on the GOP!

Politics: Why reality TV-courting families shouldn’t lose their kids

  • The impulse to remove innocent children from their stupid parents simply because their parents are stupid is a strong one. But it sweeps broadly and often irrevocably.
  • Slate columnist Dahlia Lithwick • Describing reasons why stupid parents, such as Octomom and the Balloon Boy-birthing Heenes, should be able to keep their kids. Lithwick argues that this is an extreme case, and the best solution lies somewhere in-between. • source

whales1023
  • A chick comes into the bar brings attention to herself. A bunch of males, who had been pre-occupied with a round or two of pool or nursing their Yuenglings, come over and try to win some attention. All of a sudden, it turns into this massive fight for the lady’s attention. In the end, the hotshot stud who looks like a whale wins out. Tech: Hulu’s bending to broadcasters, probably charging soon. NOOO!

  • It’s time to start getting paid for broadcast content online. I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content. I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value.
  • News Corp. Deputy Chairman Chase Carey • Describing the necessity to make a really smart and cool service incredibly lame and not awesome. Carey’s talking about Hulu, of course, and he hopes to see the company charge for some of the same content that’s available for free over the airwaves in 2010. However, it could get worse as time goes on – with the possibility of Comcast taking over NBC Universal, they could stick an even deeper fork into one of big media’s best forays into the online world. Don’t screw this up, jerks. • source
