Politics: Max Headroom: Obama was on a lot of Sunday talk shows

  • Avoiding ACORN While admitting that what he saw on the prostitution video was distasteful on ABC’s “This Week,” we’ve never seen Obama so quick to avoid answering a question, ever.

  • On health care’s toneWhy is the health care debate so vitriolic? On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Obama attacks the 24-hour news cycle, saying that controversy the media’s driving factor.

  • No Illegal ImmigrantsOn CNN’s “State of the Union,” Obama says illegal immigration is an enforcement issue – one easily solved by verification. There’s a nice rip on the GOP at the end.

Politics: Oh great. Glenn Beck is on the cover of Time.

  • We’ve got to pull together, because we are facing dark, dark times. I don’t trust a single weasel in Washington. I don’t care what party they’re from. But unless we trust each other, we’re not going to make it.
  • Glenn Beck • As quoted in a Time cover story called “Mad Man: Is Glenn Beck Bad for America?” (We lean yes, based on our discourse over the last few weeks.) The article discusses Beck’s nature, history in radio, and how, over a single summer, he became this … phenomenon. And if you disagree with him, it comes to bite you in the rear-end: “The more the host is criticized, the more committed the original audience becomes,” the Time article argues. Why can’t our pudgy middle-aged guys be like Kevin James? • source

Sports, World: South Africa’s athletics chief feels heat for lying about Caster

  • Leonard Chuene’s in the doghouse, just like David Paterson. The country’s sports minister admitted yesterday that he knew that Caster Semenya had a gender test, but let her run anyway. He had previously denied this. Now people in the country are fuming. “Mr Chuene has not only lied to us as the ministry,” said Deputy Sports Minister Gert Oosthuizen, “but to the whole country, and this is not acceptable.” Man. Sucks to be grossly incompetent today, doesn’t it? source

U.S.: ACORN’s top nut says she’s “outraged” by the pimp video

  • Any organization is not entirely perfect. I was outraged by it. Everyone should be, and I can understand how the Congress was also.
  • ACORN Chief organizer Bertha Lewis • On the video that completely decimated her organization’s reputation. She says that she’s looking into reforming the organization, and that anyone who’s “too stupid” to realize why stuff like this is a bad idea will be let go. In other news, Obama also favors an investigation into ACORN. Great job, wannabe pimps. • source
