Biz, Politics: The campaign to kill Glenn Beck’s advertisers is kinda working

  • Former advertisers
    1. State Farm
    2. Lawyers.com
    3. Procter & Gamble
    4. Progressive
    5. S.C. Johnson
    6. GEICO
    7. Men’s Wearhouse
    8. Sargento
Beck’s advertiser list has been cut significantly after an orchestrated campaign to attack the Fox News talk-show yakker for comments like those in the video above. And it’s had an effect. Thanks to left-leaning organizations like Media Matters taking Beck to task for racist and/or below-the-belt attacks on Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, these advertisers are now out.source

Tech: That company that beat Microsoft in court: Really, we’re not bad

  • We’re not seeking to stop Microsoft’s business and we’re not seeking to interfere with all the users of Word out there.
  • I4i Chairman Loudon Owen • In an interview with CNet. Owen says his company, which has 30 employees and database products in use by big companies, hopes that the injunction against Microsoft Word gets his company’s technology removed – but doesn’t kill Word entirely. “The injunction is not saying there is no more Word for the world,” he said. “That is not our intention and that would not be a sensible remedy.” • source

  • The video
  • The recap A black woman is sitting at a town hall hosted by Claire McCaskill yesterday. A reporter, whose interest has been piqued, checks out her Rosa Parks poster. Some guy sees the poster, steals it from the woman, and rips it up. Guess who gets booed and taken outside? Obvious question: How is this not racism? At some point, you have to watch these videos and shake your head. This is democracy? This isn’t people just being jerks? source

U.S.: The gay marriage fight in California is … on hold until 2012

  • I think 2010 is just to early. Eventually, marriage equality will happen for everyone. But we think we have a better chance of winning 2012.
  • Marriage Equality Silicon Valley spokesman Rick Infantino • Regarding the delay in pushing for a gay-marriage fight in California. The group thinks it’s too risky to try again after losing the fight over Prop 8 last year. They’re not alone, but it’s not universal.
