U.S.: NASA: We’re a bunch of freaking idiots who delete moon footage

  • They deleted the tape! Yeah, that one! NASA, we’re sure with the same look that you had when you busted up your dad’s Dodge when you took your ex-girlfriend on a romantic camping vacation, admitted to accidentally deleting over the most iconic tape in their entire collection, the one that turns 40 this month. You know, the moon mission. The one with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Fortunately, they had some company, Lowry Digital, remaster the heck out of the footage to make it even better than the original. But still, idiots: Don’t delete tapes with important American history on them in a desire to save cash. source

Politics: ESPN.com columnist: Don’t compare gay rights to civil rights

  • This is one of the main reasons why so many blacks bristle at the comparison of the two movements – everybody wants to sing the blues, nobody wants to live them.
  • ESPN.com columnist LZ Granderson • In a column on CNN comparing the gay rights movement to the struggle that blacks have faced. Granderson, an openly gay black male sportswriter (which is a pretty specific social segment), takes the movement to task for leaving out black people and complaining that President Barack Obama isn’t moving quickly enough. Granderson has a long history of insightful comments on gay rights, by the way. • source

Sports: Brett Favre’s game of is-he-or-isn’t-he has a firm deadline

  • July 30 is when he decides to come back. Brett Favre’s maybe-he’s-not-retired drama has taken yet another turn. He’s still thinking of playing for the Minnesota Vikings this season, but due to surgery hasn’t made up his mind yet. So he’s given the team a firm deadline to make a decision. So, remember kids, just 14 more days of waiting for him to decide whether or not he gets off the pot. Sigh. source
