Offbeat: An architect trapped in the closet makes the best of it

  • $150 a month for an eco-friendly hole in the wall. Sergio Santos of Delray Beach, Fla. has designed lots of big buildings such as high-rises, but his most impressive work may be the 5 1/2 by 14 feet room he’s living in after getting laid off in January. He’s designed the space in such a way that it’s multi-functional, architecturally attractive and interesting enough that the local newspaper did a story about it.
