Politics: “Opie and Anthony” show leaks a pic of Weiner’s penis from Breitbart’s phone

  • yesterday Andrew Breitbart detailed that while he had an extremely sexually explicit photo of Rep. Anthony Weiner, he had no intention of revealing it (unless Weiner attempted reprisals against him), displaying some respect during a rough time for the congressman.
  • today A picture of Anthony Weiner’s penis hit Twitter, snapped by radio host Greg Hughes (“Opie” of “Opie and Anthony”) when Breitbart showed it to him, unbeknownst to Breitbart. Protip: Don’t show sensitive photos to shock jocks, then get surprised that they “violated” your trust. source
  • UPDATE: The photo was not taken by Greg “Opie” Hughes via cell phone, but rather was a still from a video feed the show operates, which captured the image when Breitbart showed it. Seeing as the Opie and Anthony folks ran with it, however, and Breitbart flashed it in the first place (the stark opposite of what he’d said he’d do), the story is basically unchanged.

World: Egyptian general says female protesters got “virginity checks”

  • “Not like your daughter or mine”: An Egyptian general, speaking on condition of anonymity, has alleged a heinous violation of the women of Egypt, though he doesn’t see it that way. The general admitted that during protests on March 9th, the military performed “virginity checks” on women. The reason? “We didn’t want them to say we had sexually assaulted or raped them, so we wanted to prove that they weren’t virgins in the first place. None of them were.” It goes without saying that this rationale is nonsensical, disgusting, and beneath the contempt of a modern civil society. General Mamdouh Shaheen has denied these charges. source

Culture: We admit, this Lindsay Lohan sentencing video broke us

  • We’re not completely made of stone. Heck, some might argue we’re made of softer substances, like flesh and bone. Those jerks would be wrong, but still, it’s worth emphasizing that seeing Lohan as a bucket of emotions is pretty powerful. Even constant tabloid subjects have souls.

Culture: When it came to Woodstock, hippies > health code violations

  • I walked up to him and told him that he was violating a number of health codes. Next thing I know I’m surrounded by hippies saying, ‘Get lost, we’re hungry.’
  • New York State health inspector Marty Cohen • On the sight of a bearded man wearing a loincloth, a chef’s hat and beads cooking hamburgers for thousands of people at Woodstock. He made the realization that he was of no use in this situation, despite the many health codes being violated. Hippies don’t care about health code! They’re hippies! • source
