U.S.: Alaskans aren’t happy with departing governor Sarah Palin

  • She has single-handedly and unnecessarily created both expensive issues.
  • Anchorage resident Jeanne Ashcraft • Describing her dual frustration with Sarah Palin’s departure on Sunday – for forcing an unnecessary day in session to both swear in the lieutenant governor and to decide whether to override Palin’s veto against energy stimulus funds. Ashcraft isn’t alone in her criticism – bloggers, legislators and others have also complained about the added costs. • source

U.S.: Vanity Fair’s grammar divas edit Palin’s resignation speech. Ouch.

This is what happens when you put Sarah Palin’s resignation speech in the same room as Vanity Fair editors. I think we can assume that they really enjoyed doing this. source

Politics: A lefty says that Sarah Palin is an example of the rise of idiocy

  • She was limited in her ability to explain and defend her positions, and sometimes in knowing them. She couldn’t say what she read because she didn’t read anything. She was utterly unconcerned by all this and seemed in fact rather proud of it: It was evidence of her authenticity.
  • The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan • Describing why Sarah Palin often didn’t know what the heck she was talking about on TV. Noonan’s quote (Noonan is a conservative, BTW) is something of a centerpiece of Salon columnist Gene Lyons’ thrashing of not only Palin herself but her quote-unquote idiotic fans, calling her a product of TV celebrity culture. Lyons goes further: “President? Get real. Sarah Palin couldn’t manage a Wal-Mart.” Ouch. Those claws sure dig deep, don’t they? • source

Politics: Max Headroom: We wanna know which senator felt up David Brooks

  • Looking back For some stupid reason, the Bush administration’s dirty laundry with the CIA keeps coming up. Neocon icon Bill Kristol builds an intelligent context around the start of this Fox News panel chat.

  • Having her back John McCain, pretty much our favorite talking head ever, says some nice, supportive things about his former running mate, the soon-to-resign Sarah Palin, on “Meet the Press.”

  • Touchy-feely New York Times reporter David Brooks discusses the time an unnamed senator was feeling up his inner thigh at a dinner a couple years ago. Anyone wanna guess who it was?

Politics, U.S.: Levi Johnston on Sarah Palin: Well, I’m gonna be hypocritical

  • She had talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money people had been offering us and you know just run with it, say ‘forget everything else.’
  • Levi Johnston • On his would be baby’s-mama’s-mama, Sarah Palin, and her possibly golden-goose-related reasons for resigning as governor. He lived with the family for a short while while he was trying to be a son-in-law, Pauly Shore-style. Now, not to be critical or anything, but it’s not like Ricky Hollywood doesn’t have red on his hands. And to think, we used to like his jeans. • source

Politics: Sarah Palin says her decision was “out of the box.” Her words.

  • That caught people off guard… It’s out of the box and unconventional. That’s what we are as Alaskans and certainly how I am as a public servant.
  • Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin • Describing her decision to resign as a way to help her state. Uhhhhhh what? That makes absolutely no freaking sense, and we hope that Top Conservatives on Twitter (a.k.a. #tcot) have a field day giving us grief for criticizing their leading lady. Because we’re saying she shouldn’t be, and people in her own party are saying the same thing. “I said before … ‘You know, politically speaking, if I die, I die. So be it,'” she went on further to say. Wow. • source

U.S.: The FBI goes out on a limb to defend Sarah Palin

  • Normally, we don’t confirm or deny those kind of allegations out there. But, by not doing so, it just casts her in a very bad light. There is just no truth to those rumors out there in the blogosphere.
  • FBI Special Agent Eric Gonzalez • Regarding rumors that Sarah Palin was under investigation for corruption during her tenure as governor of Alaska. It’s interesting that they went out of their way to actually say something about it. So, in other words, she really did leave office because she wants to become president. • source

Politics: Bizarro Max Headroom: The GOP trashes on Palin, but Biden doesn’t.

  • Explosive chat This panel discussion is loaded with fireworks: On Fox News, top GOP guys Mike Huckabee and Karl Rove trash on Sarah Palin. They almost put the dagger in, but not quite.

  • Biden’s low-key blasts While Republicans were ready with the daggers, Joe Biden took a much softer approach on “This Week,” saying he believed Palin’s reasons were family-related.
