World: Jihad Jane not an isolated incident. Just ask Jamie Paulin-Ramirez.

  • He said that Christians will burn in hellfire. That’s what they are teaching this baby.
  • Christine Mott • Grandmother of a boy whose mother, Jamie Paulin-Ramirez, fell in with an Islamic terrorist cell that was plotting to kill a Swedish cartoonist. Paulin-Ramirez, who’s from Colorado, was arrested in Ireland on Tuesday along with a bunch of other members of that group, which also included “Jihad Jane” among its membership. She was later released. When you’ve lost housewives from Colorado and precocious six-year-old boys to radical Islam, much is wrong with this world. source

U.S.: “Jihad Jane” didn’t exactly hint that she was into radical Islam

  • She was just like anyone else. She had a brother, a sister, a family. There wasn’t anything really different about her.
  • Sheldon Barnum • The ex-husband of Colleen LaRose, a.k.a. “Jihad Jane,” a middle-aged woman who got tied up in radical Islam and was plotting to kill a cartoonist who depicted the prophet Muhammad on top of a dog. LaRose, who was caught in October, wasn’t shy about telling people she was a Muslim, but she left no hints of her radical leanings anywhere – except online, where her exploits as “Jihad Jane” were everywhere. One day, she disappeared without a trace, leaving her boyfriend, Kurt Gorman, high and dry.“I was upset, worried,” Gorman said. “Maybe something happened to her. You don’t know.” source

U.S.: American al-Qaeda spokesman: Follow Ft. Hood shooter’s example

  • You shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that military bases are the only high-value targets in America and the West. On the contrary, there are countless other strategic places, institutions and installations which, by striking, the Muslim can do major damage.
  • American-born al-Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn • Regarding Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan and the example he set for other America-based terrorists. Gadahn says terrorists should go after “high-value targets.” “Nidal Hasan is a pioneer, a trailblazer and a role-model who has opened a door, lit a path and shown the way forward for every Muslim who finds himself among the unbelievers,” Gadahn said. source

World: Crazy guy remembers the Prophet Mohammed cartoon controversy

  • I locked myself in our safe room and alerted the police. He tried to smash the entrance door with an axe, but he didn’t manage.
  • Cartoonist Kurt Westergaard • Describing the attempt his life by a Somali man over a cartoon he drew a few years ago showing the Prophet Mohammed. The guy, who we can’t name due to Danish law, reportedly freaked out over the 2005 incident and ended up getting himself shot twice in the process. He denies any wrongdoing, but doesn’t deny being at the scene. source

Politics: Here’s what one jerk says about the Swiss minaret ban referendum

  • Forced marriages and other things like cemeteries separating the pure and impure – we don’t have that in Switzerland, and we do not want to introduce it. Therefore, there’s no room for minarets in Switzerland.
  • Ulrich Schlueer • Co-president of the Initiative Committee to ban minarets in Switzerland. Nothing like the small of racism in the morning, or at the very least, a wedge issue to emphasize our differences in an ugly way. source

World: In an anti-Muslim move, the Swiss appear likely to ban minarets

  • What is up with the Swiss? First the bank accounts, then Roman Polanski, now this. It’s like we don’t know you anymore. Anyway, it appears likely that the country will constitutionally ban minarets – one of the strongest physical features of most mosques – after a referendum. 59% of those who voted favored the ban, according to exit polls. source

U.S.: The CIA wants to hire more Arab Americans. Good luck, guys

  • People have been told, ‘Your name is Mohammed; your name is Ahmed; you must be a terrorist.’ How do you bring people into the government when they have been subjected to a great deal of discrimination?
  • Arab American News publisher Osama Siblani • Discussing the CIA’s plan to try to hire Arab-Americans in Dearborn, Mich. The Detroit suburb, currently the heart of the U.S.’ Middle Eastern community, is being targeted by the CIA to help boost its intelligence ranks and diversity. Many applaud the decision but question the trust Arabs can have with the organization, especially considering the way they’ve been treated by the government post-9/11. source

U.S., World: Whatever the “Alavi Foundation” is, Iran, the U.S. doesn’t like it

  • For two decades, the Alavi Foundation’s affairs have been directed by various Iranian officials, including Iranian ambassadors to the United Nations, in violation of a series of American laws.
  • U.S. attorney Preet Bharara • On the ownership of mosques, skyscrapers and other buildings by the Alavi Foundation. The U.S. siezed these buildings, claiming they were a front for the Iranian government. The tenets and occupants of the properties are safe, and they’re not getting kicked out; it’s the owner who is screwed. This ought to make that whole nuclear deal easier to pull off. • source

U.S.: The Fort Hood shooter’s cousin says discrimination was an issue

  • He was a major in the Army and other majors wouldn’t treat him equally as a major should be treated. ‘Yes, you are a major in the U.S. Army, but you are still an Arab, a Muslim, you have your own traditions and values and we have ours.’ He was bothered by that a lot. He wasn’t respected as he should have been.
  • Palestinian national Mohammad Munif Abdallah Hasan • Cousin of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, describing why he thinks his cousin snapped. Mohammad says Nidal, who was born in Palestine, had wanted to leave the Army, getting to the point of a lawyer, but was unable to get out. Again, signs are not pointing to this being a terrorist attack, but one by a disgruntled soldier who just happens to be Muslim. • source
