Tech: Gizmodo says that iPhone lost in a bar isn’t fake, but actually real

  • The phone was remotely killed. The Daring Fireball dude says he called around and believes Apple lost a prototype. iTunes recognizes it as an iPhone. It uses MicroSIM, which no phones use (but the iPad 3G does). Most importantly, the guts of the phone are all labeled “Apple.” Holy crap. This is major. This may be the biggest leak to ever get out of Apple. source

Music: Gorillaz’ new single, “Stylo,” gets away with awesome again (!!)

  • cool The new Gorillaz single, “Stylo,” has one of the deepest, bassiest beats you’ll hear this side of a Justice song. If the music video doesn’t feature Don Johnson in shades, we’ll be greatly disappointed.
  • crazy The song features Bobby Womack – a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and legendary soul singer – using his booming vocals to break through everything. It’s an awesome left turn for a band built on them. source

Music: Michael Jackson gives us “Another Day” to wonder what if

  • This isn’t the full song, but it’s enough to let you know that Michael Jackson still had it late in his life. “Another Day,” a collaboration with Lenny Kravitz reportedly recorded last year (unlike earlier “Dangerous”-era tune “This is It”), sounds like the work of the someone who had something to say. It’s sad that we won’t get the full answer as to what that is.

Music: Radiohead: Screw it, we’re gonna upload our songs to torrent sites

  • The new song had a twisted journey online. “These Are My Twisted Words” leaked a few days ago on a torrent site with zero information to go with it, but with a sound that was VERY close to Radiohead. However, the band only confirmed they uploaded the track this morning. While they’re not the first band to use BitTorrent as a distribution mechanism (Harvey Danger comes to mind), they’re definitely the biggest. Kudos to Radiohead for being game for reaching audiences in new, interesting ways. source

Culture: Rihanna nude photos hit the Web. Hasn’t she suffered enough?

  • She was just starting to return to the public eye. Rihanna, who just had a personal nightmare in the form of a very public domestic violence saga featuring ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, apparently showed up on an image hosting Web site in a series of nude photos (which we will not link, by the way) and immediately trended on Twitter search. Sigh. First Carrie Prejean, then Rihanna. source

Culture: Good job, “Wolverine” pirates! You made Hugh Jackman really sad!

  • It’s a serious crime and there’s no doubt it’s very disappointing – I was heartbroken by it. Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It’s like a Ferrari without a paint job.
  • Hugh Jackman • Talking about the leak of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” that happened last week. At least one head already rolled after the incident. • source
